Chapter 15

Going back to school after a relatively calm weekend felt good for a change. I didn't need to worry about WU the same way I had and the only thing that was legit in my way right now was Havoc.

Not even knowing their deal made me on edge, waiting for their next move. I realized that I had been trespassing but weeks after still watching over me like a hawk didn't make any sense.

'What do they want?'

"Hey, Rebekah!" Kieran's voice was sharp as always and Havoc blocking my way made me stop in my tracks. Not wanting to deal with their confrontation I turned around to go through the backdoor instead, to my next class.

"Marcus kid right? Do you still remember the bloodied sight of them lying unconscious on the floor when you got home from school?" He waited for my reaction but I was too shocked to even tell what was happening. "And I bet the guy who did it didn't lose shit!" In mere seconds was I facing them again and pushed Kieran back with all my force so he stumbled back. He turned his face to the left and spit on the sidewalk.

'How does he know this?'

"What the hell's your deal, huh?!" I stepped even closer and felt the anger boiling inside of me rising more and more to the surface. The five members seemed pleased by my reaction and especially Kieran.

"Come with us to the corner of Platinum Street and we'll talk." Without another word they walked to the said destination at a fairly slow pace, in waiting for me to tag along. My legs were plastered on the pavement but with a second thought my curiosity took over and I jogged up behind them.

If they were gonna try anything I would make sure to stay close to the road, and without reach for any of them, for an escape exit, since it's already proven that five against one isn't an even fight. Mere minutes later stood we in a deformed circle, probably looking like a sect heading for some crazy sacrifice ritual.

"Spit it out, what do you know?"

'How could they have known all that? Were they in on it?'

"It's not what we know, it's what you know." A bunch of papers was handed to me and I started to go through all of them. To my surprise, Zach's face was on the majority with the exceptions of a few with other men and women I didn't recognize. "You were never on the run or later doing distance studies, were you?" His mocking tone told me that he already knew my answer, but the question was why he wanted to know.

"How do you have these pictures?" A sound behind me made me turn my head quickly to see the intruder but to my relief it was only an old man going for a walk with his dog, muttering to himself every once in a while.

"You know, I recognized you from the very beginning. Like I'd seen you before-" I interrupted.

"We've never met before, I'd remember for sure." His facial features were nothing someone would've missed. I didn't know what was so special about his looks but I knew that they were nothing I've come across. It was like having a word at the tip of your tongue but you can't seem to force it out. His almost elf looking ears and huge brown eyes with naturally dirty blonde hair just did it for him.

"Well, that's the thing. You haven't seen me but gosh I've thought about you a lot." He stepped closer with so many mixed emotions that I didn't know if he wanted to scream or cry out in pain. "But it wasn't until that guy" He pointed at the pictures I still held in my hands, "came and spooked to you that I realized just exactly who you are."

'And small pieces like a puzzle started forming in front of me and I could see the finished product'

I sucked in a breath between my teeth.

"I didn't see you as the guy to watch the news as a sixteen year old, impressive." My statement earned me a scoff from Kieran and the others who so far hadn't said or even moved from their place.

"When my brother died I sat at home in front of the TV more than I slept, which was quite much and also the only two things I actually did. And one day I saw you all over my screen. Newsflash of the girl who so, unfortunately, lost her parents." At the sound of his sarcasm, I shot him a quick glare. "Which didn't get me thinking more than I had the last couple weeks until your name was in the same sentence as one of this areas underworlds leader." Kieran's eyes bored into mine.

"I'd like to think as myself as someone having quite a fast mind capability but now you've totally lost me."

"My brother was a drug dealer before he was killed. And pretty boy here was his bagman." Once again the pictures of Zach were shoved into my face. "Do you know how I got these pictures?" I shook my head, no so he continued.

"Jayden had been spying on drug baron's crew for a while and was planning to, with a few friends, take down their gang in a surprise attack at the next sell-out. Turns out that invitations already been sent through 'cause when they got there all armed up, they didn't even have a chance to speak before snipers shoot them from a rooftop above."

I tried so hard to take in all the information given and was left with nothing. No emotions whatsoever about the incident. "Apparently he and the others weren't even worth a page in the local paper, no one spared it a second thought that it had happened. Just a bunch of junkies anyway, huh?"

"Why are you telling me this?" I was beginning to lose interest and was ready to go back to school any time now.

"' Cause we now have a common goal." A sinister smirk spread across his face as he spat out his words. "To kill the guy that took you, parents, away and murdered my little brother as if he was nothing."
