I've tried to cut these corners
Try to take the easy way out
I kept on falling short of something

I coulda gave up then but
Then again I couldn't have 'cause
I've traveled all this way for something

LIAM

5 years later...

We walked into our new house, the one that Delilah had chosen. The smile on her face was bright and happy, but that wasn't what had my full attention. Thirteen year old Adrian, still as protective as ever, held his little brother's hand while keeping an eye on Delilah who carried our newborn daughter.

The timing of the new house was perfect. We were running out of space and with our ever growing family, we needed as much of it as possible.

"I love it," Delilah said with a smile.

"I know you do," I replied, pulling her close to me. Our two week old Arianna yawned, stretching in her mothers arms. If she was anything like Delilah, I knew we'd be fighting off a million boys.

Good thing she had two big brothers.

"I can't wait until we have Aiden's birthday party here," Delilah said eagerly.

"It's four months away."

"Never too early to start planning," she winked.

"I'm already planning something else," I muttered, thinking that we still had a month and a half until we could have sex. Delilah rolled her eyes and continued walking upstairs where the bedrooms were. I followed behind her, trying not to grow distracted by the swaying of her hips and-

"Stop looking at my ass," Delilah said without turning around.

"I'm not looking at your ass," I mumbled with a frown. How the hell did she know I was looking?

"I can feel your eyes on me," she answered without me voicing the question.

Women.

I heard Adrian and Aiden running around, and then Aiden laughing. A tickle attack was the likely explanation.

I opened the door for Arianna's nursery, now fully decorated and furnished and memorized the smile that crept on Delilah's face. Seeing her enjoy motherhood was perhaps the most beautiful thing I'd witnessed. No matter how much she'd doubted it before and the struggles we had faced, she was a natural.

She set our daughter down in her bassinet placing a kiss on her forehead.

I stood behind her and when she turned around her eyes widened in shock, not expecting me to be there. She hit me playfully and I kissed her forehead. She smiled, her head resting on my chest while her hand went over my heart.

"I can't believe this is our life now," she whispered.

"I can."

Never had a doubt.

My life wouldn't have been what it was if it weren't for the woman I held in my arms. And though we'd been through hell and back, I wouldn't change a single thing. Our sons barged into the room, quieting down when they realized their sister was asleep. They stopped in front of the bassinet, admiring the little girl that would probably give them several headaches in the future.

I stood there, watching them, feeling like I was holding the world in my hands, because I was.

My kids.

My wife.

My entire life stood with me in that very room.

I thought the return of Delilah had flipped my world upside down but I had been incredibly wrong.

Her return had set everything into place.

Any battles yet to face, the moodiness of teenagers, the chaos of parenthood and marriage we would face together.

And without a doubt, I knew we'd win every single one of them.

THE END.
