Mike's  POV

Eleven wasn't at school yesterday. She said she was sick, but I kinda think she stayed home because she wanted to. It's been really awkward since our fight. I'm sure it'll go back to normal when she apologizes. Until then, I have nothing to say to her.

She came in this morning, a few minutes late. She gave me a small smile before sitting down next to me. I wondered where Marlee would sit. She sat in El's seat yesterday.

"Hey, uh. Can we talk? After class?" She asked with a hopeful expression.
"Yeah. Sure," I said, giving her a slight smile.

Marlee sat near the back with some of her new girl friends. She waved at me as she walked past, and I smiled up at her. Eleven was smiling until she saw that. Her face hardened immediately. She didn't smile for the rest of class.

She walked with me to my locker and talked to me while I put my books away. She said she was sorry. She didn't understand how serious it was, and now she does. She talked to Nancy about it, and she gets it now. She said she was sorry about overreacting. She didn't understand that I couldn't control it.

I forgave her, and I told her that I did. She looked very relived, and things went back to normal, as I predicted.

Lunch was a lot easier. I didn't have to focus on the other side of the table, hoping they'd keep the conversation going. I could actually talk to Dustin today. Last week he was focused on El because they sit at the same end of the table.

Eleven went to math with Max, and I went to reading. I met up with Marlee and we sat together. After class I found El at her locker.
"Do you wanna maybe come over?" I asked.
"Um..sure. Yeah. Lemme just text Hopper."

She pulled out her phone and opened messages.
"Don't tell him it's me, he'll say no."
"Naw dip, Sherlock," she replied, smirking.

Eleven: can I go to my friend Max's?
Hopper: sleepover?

She looked up at me and I hesitated before nodding enthusiastically. She smiled and blushed.

Eleven: yeah. that okay?
Hopper: sure. don't stay up too late. school night
Eleven: course. thanks! love you
Hopper: love you too. have fun

We rode to my house on my bike. It's been so long since she had her arms around me. Hop takes her to school in his car, and then he picks her up at the end of the day. It felt so right. Warm, and familiar. Like her arms were meant to be wrapped around me.
