Mike's POV
It took me longer than usual to get home, and when I did, the driveway was empty. That meant I could get inside without someone noticing my face.
I went in and ran to the basement. I collapsed in her blanket fort and my phone dinged.
Will: wth did you do?!
Mike: wym
Will: hopper called my mom. i overheard most of the conversation. they were screaming
Mike: is she okay?
Will: no. she came home from school and went straight to her room. she's been crying every since.
Mike: oh no.
Will: what did you do?!
Mike: nothing...i'll take care of it.
Will: you better.
Mike: i will.
I couldn't text her. That was too easy. She'd just ignore me. I couldn't go to the cabin. Hopper was there and he wouldn't let me in. I'm not supposed to be dating her, so why would I come over after school?
I called Ms Joyce and she picked up right away.
"Hey, do you wanna explain why Jane is so upset?" She sounded frustrated and worried.
"Eleven got mad at me during school. We just had a fight...everyone fights. It's fine. I'm sure she'll be fine. Don't worry about it, okay?" She needs to leave it alone.
El and I were fighting because I broke a promise. A promise to stop harming myself. If Ms Joyce found out, she'd tell me parents, and they'd make a huge deal out of it. I don't really tell anyone about it. Nancy knows, because I need someone to make sure I'm safe. Eleven knows because I told her and I trust her. She deserved to know.
I need to be more careful. I can't let anyone else find out about it. The more people that know a secret, the less of a secret it is. I need to stop, anyways.
