Third Person POV

Hopper walked up to the front door. The locks were undone but the door was closed. Jane was probably in a rush to get in. It was cold and she had walked home. He worked late on Fridays.

He opened the door and walked through. He was going to surprise Jane by coming home early. Instead it was the other way around.

Michael Wheeler was sitting on the couch with Jane's head in his lap. He leaned down to kiss her forehead. They hadn't noticed the door opening, so when Hopper took a step and the old floor creaked, they jumped.

Eleven shot out of Mike's lap and he stood up. They both faced a very angry Hopper.

"I just wanna get this straight. I tell you not to see my daughter. I take her away from you, in hopes that it'll teach you a lesson. I bring her back because Joyce convinced me too. You see each other at school every day. Yet it is still not enough? You have to come into my house, and blatantly defy me?" he lectured, enraged at the sight before him.

"Dad lis-" El started to say, but was cut off by her adoptive father.
"Hush, Jane. This is between me and your defiant boyfriend," he said harshly.
"Sir, I'm deeply sorry to have caused you this trauma. I had no intention of upsetting you," Mike said, trying to reason with the Chief.

"Then why did you? You know very clearly that I don't want you dating Jane. If I had it my way, she wouldn't even go to your school," he replied.

"I love her. I tried to keep myself away. But I've been without her before. For almost an entire year. It drove me mad. Quite literally. I became deeply depressed. I didn't eat, or shower, or sleep for days at a time. I felt numb. Constantly. I found refuge in calling her, just hoping that maybe she would hear. And she did. And she found me. And now we have the chance to be together. But you are keeping us apart. You are the only thing standing in the way of our happiness," Mike said passionately.

His eyes were welling up with tears and Eleven walked over to him and held his hand. She looked up to her dad, whose face had softened.

"You really feel that way about her?" he asked Mike.
"I do, sir. I love her more than anything," Mike replied, and El blushed.

"And you love him?" Hopper asked his daughter. She nodded and looked over to her boyfriend. A single tear rolled down her cheek.

"You treat her right. She's worth more than you'll ever understand. Got it, Wheeler?"
"Yes sir," Mike replied.

"I need a cigarette," Hopper muttered to himself. He walked outside and Mike engulfed Eleven in a huge hug.

"I love you, El."
"I love you too, Mike."

the end.
