Layla POV
I hear the ringtone of my phone from across the room, so I start heading towards it. On the way, I trip the man to my right, and roundhouse kick the man to my left, who refuses to give up, still charging at me with a baseball bat.
"What a nuisance," I say with disgust, growing more and more tired of the repetitive attacks. The man I tripped gets up and I grab my switchblade, running towards him and slashing his throat.
I continue heading to my phone, but the man with the baseball bat had gotten up at some point and tries to charge at me. I duck under the baseball bat swinging towards my head and kick my leg out, tripping the man in the process. I use his state of shock to grab the bat from out of his hands and bash his head in, getting blood on my clothes.
I reach for my phone and look at the caller ID, groaning when I realize that it's my boss, most likely wondering what's taking so long.
"The Smiths have been taken care of," I tell him, bringing the phone closer to my ear.
"Good. For a moment I was worried you failed to accomplish your mission. Come back to headquarters, I have a new mission for you," he says grumpily, ending the call suddenly. I mentally roll my eyes at his impatience.
I call in a cleaning crew to clean up the mess of dead bodies and blood. I grab a change of clothes out of my car and drive to our headquarters. Entering the old looking warehouse, I scowl at the familiar rust stained walls. I knock on my boss's office door and wait for permission to come in.
"Enter," a gruff voice commands. I obey and enter his office warily. It's a nice office, not too big but definitely not small. It has guns aligning the walls and a different assortment of dangerous weapons on the back tables.
"Sir, you requested my presence," I say firmly, eyeing the blueprints he's looking down at.
"Yes, I did. I have a new assignment for you. Your assignment is to play as a liberal Arts major at UCLA and investigate David Miller," he says, tossing me a photo of a man in his early 20's. "I want you to report back to me weekly about anything even slightly suspicious. After you have gained the required information, I will give the order and you are to eliminate the target. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, sir. But, I do have one question, what exactly am I trying to find out?"
"His parents are our biggest competitors. They're more or less of a family owned 'business'. We had a truce with them for a couple years until they decided to send in a spies and kill 13 of my men. So, I need you to find out where their main base of operations is, as well as a way in."
He rests his elbows on the desk, continuing. "Only their immediate family know where it is. David, their son, has been out of our type of business for 4 years, so hopefully you won't have too much trouble. Once you have access to the parents, you need to find out any useful Info you can. Also, if you have the chance after you have the information you need, kill the parents, but, if you don't have the opportunity then just focus on escaping."
"Am I permitted to kill some of their men if they interfere?"
"Yes I'll allow that. Oh, and you know the drill, if you get captured, you take these," he says, handing me an instant kill pill. A small capsule with sodium cyanide in it, a highly toxic poison. "Oh, and don't let him know that anyone is after him, whether he knows that it's you or not. It might hinder him from trusting you."
I take the pills out of his hands and shove them in my pocket. "I understand. What's the payout looking like?"
"Well, with everything combined, about 2.3 million dollars. Your cut will probably end up being around 500k. I have already made preparations for your housing, identity, and anything else you may need. I also have his schedule written down so take a look at that as well. If you can, try to match your schedule to his," he says, taking a notepad out of his pocket and handing it to me.
I look at the list written on the front page and exit his office quickly.
A VSS Vintorez sniper rifle
A Glock 19: 9mm pistol
Residence address: 8423 Dudley Drive, house key under 4th stone
You'll find your student ID on the counter
Objective: find information on the targets, eliminate after completedI flip the page and look at David's class schedule.
I walk over to our armory and grab the sniper rifle and pistol. I put the Sniper rifle in a black case and the pistol in my waistband. Walking out of the building, I leave to where I'll be staying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I arrive at the apartment, I'm not surprised when I see that the apartment is only an average one-story brick building. I grab my bags and enter the apartment, setting down the sniper and putting the pistol on the counter. I do a quick sweep of the little apartment, slightly annoyed that it looks about as average on the inside as it does the outside. It being a simple two bedroom, one bathroom apartment with a small kitchen and living area.I decide that I should probably head to the store and grab some of the things I need. I grab my purse and ID and walk out the door. I get into my car and start heading to the mall. When I arrive I am immediately greeted by the smell of food, sweat, and new shoes.
"I hate the mall," I whisper to myself.
I head to a different array of shops, ranging from house supplies, to clothing, to makeup. Finally 3 hours later, I'm finished with the shopping and have everything I need. With my bags in my hands, I walk out to the parking lot and get in my car. I check my phone and notice that it's around 9:45 p.m.
Sighing to myself, I start my car and head 'home'.
