"Alright, I'm scanning the perimeter now. There aren't any guards outside from what I can see, but I'm gonna do a thermo scan and see if there are any inside. Stand by," I tell Steven through my earpiece, ducking down into the tall grass.
Grabbing the small backpack I brought with me, I take out a pair of thermographic glasses and scan the building, finding only a few people inside. The building has a fairly simple layout from the looks of it. Classic brick design with a few windows high up on the building. The only real thing that stands out about the warehouse is its location. It's in the middle of nowhere.
"Six guards, two at the front entrance, four in the back, all inside," I mumble, moving forward to get a better view.
"It must not be a very important warehouse then. Well, I'm just glad that there aren't very many guards. I wouldn't want this to get messy," he tells me, a hint of warning in his voice.
"I'm heading towards the building now," I duck walk towards the building, keeping myself hidden in the tall grass. I freeze when one of the guards opens up the door, pulling out a cigarette. "Hold on, one of the guards just stepped out for a smoke break."
"Okay, instead of heading straight through the front, I want you to head towards the back of the building. Once you're near, I want you to walk to the edge of the grass and sprint as fast and as quietly as you can to the wall. It's about 50 meters to the wall, which would take you around 7 seconds. There's a blind spot in the cameras right against the wall. You need to get in unseen, so I can buy you a 7 second window where the cams will go off but after that I'll be kicked out. You'll need to get there fast," Steven explains while I stretch my legs out under me.
I start moving towards the other side of the building, making sure the guard is facing the opposite direction. "Anything else I should know? Like how exactly you plan to get me inside without going through the doors?"
"Let's just say that I have certain connections, that will help you inside," he says, sounding slightly ominous.
"That doesn't sound suspicious at all. You know what? Fine, it's your plan after all," I concede as I slowly but surely make my way to the other side of the building. "So, who exactly is the guy that you're hunting?"
"It doesn't matter. We can call him Trey to make things easier," he says carefully.
"Whatever," I mumble just as I reach the edge of the grass.
Before I can be seen by the cameras, I pull my mask over my face and put on a pair of black leather driving gloves. "Okay, I'm ready."
"Alright, I'm gonna count to three, and when I say go, you're gonna sprint across."
As soon as he says one, I make sure my path is clear and sprint towards the building, pushing my limbs to the limits.
I use my hands to slow me down by pushing them against the wall, easing my body to a stop and pressing myself flush against the wall.
"How'd I do?" I ask, my head pounding with adrenaline.
"Just in the nick of time. You're a bit slow, you might want to stop eating so much," He snickers at his own joke.
"Oh, shut up. What are you now, thirty? You'd get halfway and your legs would give out, old man." It's my term to snicker as I hear a sound resembling a gasp come from Steven.
"I'm only twenty six! Jeez."
"Whatever." I look around for some sort of back entrance or a low window, but I don't see anyway into the building. "Kay, how am I getting in here?"
"Look up."
Looking up, I see a face peeking out of the window. The man tosses down a rope and I scoff. "Not a chance. I am not climbing 20 feet into the air with a tiny rope."
