"Man, that was awesome," David says, stretching his arms up above his head.

"Yeah, I really enjoyed the show. Especially the play, the little kids were super cute," I agree with David, opening my car door. "So wait, where is the Denny's?"

"Just follow behind my car," James says, walking away to his car.

We all get in our respective cars and pull out one after another. Surprisingly, I decided to stay the full night, finding myself actually having a good time. I was going to head home, but James and David insisted that I come with them to to get breakfast.

We all pull into the Denny's and meet up at the door.

"I don't think I've ever been here before," I wonder aloud, putting my keys in my pocket.

We walk into the restaurant and are pleasantly surprised. The place isn't very packed, and a waitress comes out to greet us fairly quickly. She tells us her name and says that she'll be with us shortly.

I start walking around, looking at all the different pictures of food, making my stomach growl.

"Hey Layla," James calls from behind me. I spin around quickly, bumping straight into his chest. He lightly grabs hold of my arm, steadying me.

"Oh, I'm sorry," I mumble, looking up at him.

"No, you're fine. I just wanted to ask what you thought of this picture over here." He points towards a picture to my far right, a large stack of pancakes with omelets in between each one.

"Oh jeez. No wonder so many people in America are overweight."

He chuckles, and the waitress comes back out to lead us to our table. We all sit down, and the waitress takes our drink orders.

"Man, I'm tired," I yawn, covering my mouth with the back of my hand.

It's just after sunrise, and I haven't gotten any sleep. Not to mention I was up late last night because of Steven's little "test", and then I had to get up early this morning for classes.

"Same here. As fun as this was, I'm ready to be in my own bed," David says, looking at the menu. "What are you guys gonna order?"

"I'll probably just order some eggs. What about you James?" I ask, but I notice James zoning out. "James!"

He quickly snaps back to attention and I chuckle.

"Did you hear me?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, um, no? Sorry, what did you say again?" He asks and I suppress another laugh.

"I just asked about what you wanted to order."

"Oh, I'll probably just order some waffles and eggs."

"You're awfully spacey. Is something the matter?" David questions him, putting a hand on James' shoulder.

"I'm just tired, it's really nothing to be worried about." He looks down at his lap, his expression morphing into confusion. "Oh shoot, I forgot my wallet outside. I'll be right back." He walks outside and I shift my attention back to my menu.

"Hey Layla, I need to talk to you about something," David says, setting down his menu.

"Yeah, what's up?" I turn to face him, focusing my attention solely on him.

"Listen, I know what you said about James knowing that you're just friends, but honestly, I think he wanted this night to be just you two. I can tell that he has been bummed almost all night," he pauses, shifting in his seat uncomfortably. "Don't get me wrong, I had a great time tonight, but I don't think I should've come."
