Sayaka, Kyoko and Madoka made camp in the sheltered hollow of the skeletal structure of an abandoned house, Mami's death fresh on their minds. No-one said anything, as they gathered debris, and any wood they could find, to light a fire. Night was falling, and they had yet to figure out what they would do. Madoka spoke first.

"Sayaka, Kyoko, what do we do about Homura-chan?" Neither of them said anything. Finally, Sayaka spoke.

"We find her, and we make her pay for killing Mami." Kyoko glanced at Sayaka then - she hadn't known Sayaka was so close to Mami. Madoka just looked unsure.

"I know I'm not yet a magical girl, but if I just contrac-"

"No!" Sayaka and Kyoko both shouted at the same time. Madoka jumped.

"But-"

"I said no, okay?" Kyoko interrupted. "We are magical girls because we had to be. Anyone else who is a magical girl when their life is almost perfect is not taking this seriously."

"But-" Madoka began.

"I know we're in this Hunger Games, but don't become a magical girl," Kyoko continued, "Once we get out of this place, there will be no point of you being a magical girl."

"I don't want to be a burden," Madoka whispered, hanging her head. "It's better if I just become a-"

"Kyoko's right," Sayaka broke in. "You shouldn't become a magical girl just so you won't be a burden, there's two of us, against Homura, and that's more than enough." Madoka nodded, but she still looked doubtful.

"I guess you're right." Kyoko couldn't say anything more, she didn't really believe that Madoka trusted them, but it was the only promise they had.
