'Where am I?' Oriko blinked fuzzily. 'What is this place?'
Looking around, she saw the derelict view of ruins. Broken and smashed cars, the crumbled remains of a bridge, the trickling, gurgling flow of murky, dirty water, all under the same, fading sun. Oriko gasped. She had seen this place before. Walpurgisnacht had come. Now, there was no hope for anyone. She had failed her mission.
"Hello!" A voice cheerfully greeted her. Oriko looked up, and saw the pale shape of an incubator.
"Juubey!" She gasped. The incubator shook his head.
"I'm not Juubey, I'm Kyuubey, Juubey's an aquaintance of mine though," he corrected her, his red eyes never changing. Oriko saw the difference between Kyubey and Juubey. Where Juubey had a fluffy dark pelt and scarf, starting from his neck to his belly, Kyubey was completely white, with the exception of the pink tinge at the base of his ears and the circles on his back.
"Why am I here?" Oriko asked, getting up, her pale skirts rustling. For some reason, she was fully transformed, "Did Walpurgisnacht come? How did it happen, I don't remember anything!" Kyubey looked slightly amused.
"Of course. I had forgotten you could see the future. Well, the good news for you is, Walpurgisnacht has not come yet. You aren't on Earth anyway. Right now, you are in a copy of the earth, exactly how it would be after Walpurgisnacht has come. It's a bit of a long story about the reason why we have put you here, but let's just say that it would be much more beneficial for us, when fulfilling our quota of energy-"
"What do you mean by putting me here?" Oriko interrupted, "What am I meant to do here?" Kyubey blinked.
"Well, in short, you are going to fight all the other magical girls here. You will find magical girls you have met, and possibly some you haven't. If you are the only survivor, you win, and you go back to Earth. It's a shame you came a bit late. You missed the initial bloodbath, but only one person was killed." Oriko frowned.
"Who was killed?" Kyubey flicked his tail.
"Oh, I think you've met her. She's a magical girl called Mami." Oriko blinked.
"Mami? Are you sure? She was a very powerful magical girl, how could she have been killed?" She even managed to fight Kirika and escape, Oriko added silently.
Kyubey gave what looked like a shrug.
"Well, that's past the point, anyway, now that you're here, you should be starting soon. Just stay here for now, and be ready to start, once I make the announcement. I'll make an announcement very soon, that you're here. Try not to go anywhere, and if anyone comes, stay hidden. I don't want anyone to say I wasn't fair. Oh, and I think your friend will be coming soon."
After the last word, Kyubey leapt off, running into the distance and disappearing. Oriko sat down and sighed. Waiting and more waiting. Still she would keep her pride, and she will kill if she must. She had to stop the world from turning into this.
"Oriko?" Oriko could hear a voice calling her, "Oriko!"
"Over here," Oriko replied. She recognized the voice. Moments later, Kirika appeared from behind the rubble.
"Where are we?" Kirika asked. Oriko's face never changed.
"It's a long story, but you must trust me. We must kill Madoka Kaname."
Kirika blinked.
"She's here?" Immediately, Kirika sprang up, drawing out her claws, "I'll go and kill her th-"
"It's not that simple," Oriko interrupted, "We are in the Hunger Games, we must kill everyone here, until only one of us is left." Kiara blinked.
"Only one? Then that means..."
Oriko nodded.
"One of us must die." Kirika nodded.
"I know, but I will serve and honor you, Oriko, as long as you win!" She declared.
"Thank you, Kirika."
