"You don't look too good," says Nessie worriedly. Sarah Burton looks pale and weak. She just recovered from sickness. The doctor said she hasn't been eating properly since that incident with the Duke.

Sarah sighs. She says, "I just wanna look thin. So no one could call me Lady Potato again. Why I can't forget him?"

Vanessa sighs too. She also couldn't forget him. Valentino. The guy who stole her first kiss.

He is a head taller than Greg. Long brown hair. And weird eye color. Not exactly blue or green, just something in between.

She touches her lips out of instincts. Well, she won't see him again.

Sarah asks, "How is it? Your relationship with your fiancee?" "Greg? We are doing great. I wrote him a lot of letters. But he seldom replied me. I know he's busy..."

"You are one lucky girl. I got a Duke who called me a potato..." "You aren't that round, Sarah! You should see that a lot of boys stare to you during Sunday service. You are beautiful and attractive. Just forget that crazy guy!"

Sarah finally smiles a little. She says, "I miss you a lot, Nessie. I can't believe you crossed English channel for me. How's the crews?"

"You know them well. Hanks is grumpy as usual. Patch is as jolly as usual. And Hook blabbers like an old spinster."

Sarah gives her a good hug. And she asks, "Would you stay here for a while? I'm very lonely here." "Of course. And we would see Paris together after you got better."

For the rest of the week, Vanessa makes sure that Sarah drinks her tonic. And that she eats properly. Her friend begins to regain her health again.

Val drinks a sip of his wine. A man just questioned the reception desk about a teenager girl and three guys. Never thought he would see him in Calais.

Gregor Trentham.

They haven't met for years. Val could easily recognize him. He hasn't changed much. Tall and charming like a prince. His training in the army has made his muscles bulged. He looks very manly. No wonder Vanessa Hoyt wants him.

Val stands up and pretends to walk like a drunk man. He "accidentally" bumps into Gregor.

"My bad, Sir..." says Val inaudibly. Greg completely ignores him. He just leaves the hotel to find his runaway fiancee.

Val grins while counting the money. Greg is quite a rich fellow. He doesn't usually do pickpocketing. But he never likes Greg much.

Val leaves the hotel. Time to say goodbye to Calais. And goes to Paris and have some fun. With Greg's money.

*****

"Nessie!" yells Greg.

He is angry and tired. A thug has stolen his wallet. He only has few spare coins with him in his pocket. Only enough to ride a post carriage from Calais to Paris. And he has to walk to reach Comte Dupont Manor.

Eight miles on foot. As a soldier, he is used to long distance march.

Finally he is shown into the Comte Dupont Manor drawing room after he has calmed down a lot.

Covered in dust from head to toes. And he looks furious.

Nessie shivers a little. Why Greg looks so upset?
