Yixing teleported us out of the house. My mind swam and I felt nauseated for half a second before we were back on the ground again.
I doubled over, shaking my head of its dizziness. I smelt and tasted metallic blood and my chest felt heavy as if there wasn't enough oxygen.
"Don't worry." Yixing assured me as he faced me. "What your feeling right now is because you're human. We have different levels of gas in the air. The taste of blood is from the air as well, you'll get used to it."
I nodded, breathing slowly to stop my body from panicking. I looked around, we were stood in a warehouse and I almost shrieked as I discovered we weren't alone.
About ten feet away stood a woman. No, a Demon. Her skin as pale as paper, contrasted against the stark black of her dress and hair. A very gothic looking choker, thick and black, graced her delicate looking neck. Fine silver jewellery, a hand cuff that encircled her whole hand with silver and diamonds. A long, glittering necklace cascaded from her neck. Her black corseted dress was also decorated with small crystals, fanning out past her bottom to turn into a silky material of dark grey. Her shoes, for what I could see, were also silver, high and superior.
I gulped, she was staring at me. Eyes bright blue and human, her features sharp yet elegant. She looked, felt, more ancient than the Demon brothers that guarded me.
"Sister." Yixing bowed his head, my eyes widening. Why was he bowing? Should I bow?
She inclined her head as she walked towards us, her footsteps threatening and calculated. Her whole presence made my body want to crumble and my instincts screamed at me to run, run, run!
I didn't move a muscle, my body was stiff and terrified. I was in shock, pure shock and fear. I was sure I would've vomited again, had it not been for Yixing's hand that drifted to my back, sensing my discomfort.
"This is Lina, Satan's slave." His words made me shiver, Satan's slave. How lovely.
She didn't react, just stood staring at me. Assessing. I felt as if my whole form would tumble in on itself at her gaze. She was beyond pretty, beyond the definition of stunning. She was beauty itself, dark, deathly beauty.
"This is Taeyeon. My much older sister." He gestured to the female Demon, I bowed my head in respect.
She continued to watch me. A predator assessing its prey. Ready to pounce.
"The First Demon Princess of Hell. Queen of Magnokinises and Gyrokinises." I let what Yixing said sink in, pure terror ran up and down my body. My heart threw itself to the back of my rib cage, as if to hide.
"Come." Her voice was beyond unnerving, it was alluring yet laced with pure death.
We followed her out of the cold warehouse to a door in the corner, the door opened as she neared it, holding open for us. She didn't turn to look at us as we walked through the door, Yixing's hand still at my back as if to steady me.
"Where are we going?" I dared ask, my voice pathetically broken and quiet.
"To an office." She responded, a lethal calm voice that was devoid of any emotion.
I shivered again. The dark hallway stretched out before me seeming to go on forever, until a door came into view. A double door, grand and terrifying. Gargoyles were positioned in the top corners that unnervingly followed us with their heads, the black door had intricate patterns etched onto it and as I got closer, I swear they were faces of people screaming. No not people, souls.
The doors opened and we entered, my eyes widening at what was before me. It was indeed an office, endless and plain, the same desk, same setup lead for miles it seemed. Different people sat atop the chairs, typing, writing, filing paperwork. Normal looking people.
"The office has been running smoothly, which is expected," Taeyeon began as we walked. "I sent off for information regarding the child at her arrival, we're still gathering everything, but her life is expectedly normal and boring."
I frowned, what child? They brought children here?
"Her parents have filed a police report, a missing persons report has been issued and she's made it on the news." Taeyeon continued walking and talking. She then turned to me, "congratulations."
I then halted. That child she spoke of was me. My parents... they were probably in pieces. I was gone and they'd called the police.
"Before you start panicking, a Demon have been sent out to deal with them." She cooed, continuing on.
"Deal with them?" I barked. Meaning kill them?
"Their memory of you is being swiped, the missing persons report is being erased and your very existence is being forgotten. It'll be like you never existed." My heart sank at her words, and so did I. I fell to my knees. My eyes watery. My parents would forget me. Everyone would forget me.
I turned to Yixing, glaring. "You didn't tell me this!"
Yixing was eyeing Taeyeon, who had an amused glint in her eyes. "That's because I wasn't aware."
Taeyeon shrugged. "You didn't need to be made aware."
Yixing didn't react, simply bowed his head. How powerful was she to have him so easily submit?
"Erasing you is the best thing. No one will miss you, your family will live happily. It'd be selfish of you to want them to remember you." She drawled, obviously enjoying this.
I clenched my teeth. She was right, so damn right it hurt. But their memories being taken would mean that this was too real, there's no home for me to go back to. Nothing.
"I sent Jennie to swipe their memories, let's hope that's all she does." Taeyeon grinned, crossing her arms as she stared at Yixing.
Yixing tensed, his face hardening. "Does Satan know of this?"
Taeyeon grinned wider, too demonic and wide to be human. "Father doesn't care, as long as she lives he couldn't give two shits."
Father. Taeyeon called him father, that made me even more confused. Why did she call him that, but not the brothers?
Then I remembered something. "Who's Jennie?"
Taeyeon licked her lips, as if she'd been waiting for me to ask. "The Queen of Souls."
I froze. All my thoughts flooded from my mind.
"Either she takes their memories or... their souls. Depends what mood she's in."
I stopped hearing. Stopped thinking. Just stopped. Not my family. Not my parents, my younger brother.
"We'll be going." Yixing ground out, touching my arm as we teleported somewhere else.
I didn't care, I just sat there. I recognised the house, I was in the foyer. My head was still down, I was still on my knees.
"Brother?" Baekhyun's voice called, but I didn't look up. "What's wrong with her?"
"Taeyeon." It sounded like Yixing spat her name. "She sent Jennie to wipe her parents memories of her."
There was no response. Then, a pair of shoes were in front of me, I didn't look up. Not as Baekhyun touched my shoulder, trying to raise me.
"Taeyeon is a bit... full on, sometimes. Your parents will be fine, I'll make sure of it." Baekhyun explained, I didn't respond. I saw out the corner of my eye as he teleported.
Was he being kind? I didn't know. I didn't care.
Pure emptiness had filled my my mind and heart, leaving me as a hollow shell of nothingness.
