Plan in motion, Yixing met Eve in Limbo, where she'd send off a blast of her power through Purgatory, alerting her twin children of her presence as instructed.
"I fear this plan won't go how you wish it to." Eve spoke, and as Yixing looked at her he nearly forgot how old she really is due to her ethereal beauty.
Yixing acknowledged what she said, but sighed quietly, "we have no other choice. The others have swore not to hurt your children."
"It's not my children I'm worried about." She muttered, hazel eyes wandering. "I sensed a shift when I came here, something different. Something has changed changed, or somebody has changed, and it isn't good."
"Nothings is good in Hell." Yixing commented a bit sharply. "Hundreds of mortals enter Purgatory weekly, that's what you've likely sensed."
She shook her head idly, and Yixing was beginning to lose patience. "It's not. However, I hope your plan goes as as it should, Child of Cecilia."
"I'm not a Child of Cecilia." Yixing retorted firmly, waiting for his brother's signal.
Eve's eyes glinted, however she simply shrugged. "Biologically you are, but your mother made a choice no mother should ever make, and it was difficult-"
"She still made the choice." Yixing cut her off, never being able to forgive Cecilia's selfishness. Luckily, he received a signal telepathically from his brothers, before Eve could reply. "It's go time."
~
Eve's signal washed over Purgatory, and Baekhyun held out a hand to Jongin, Sehun and Jongdae to halt them until the time was right. Chanyeol and Minseok were on Circle duty, scanning the time that the twins leave their Circles and answer their mother's call.
"They're taking too long," Jongdae grumbled, the four of them hiding in that world of darkness behind the shadows that Baekhyun can summon.
"Shut up." Baekhyun hissed, trying to concentrate on hearing Chanyeol's signal that would be muffled due to the shadow world.
Finally, after what felt like years, the quiet signal came and Baekhyun grabbed his brothers, teleporting them out of his shadow realm. "Let's go."
Reappearing in a lighter area, Baekhyun's eyes adjusted much quicker than everyone else's and he spotted Chanyeol and Minseok inspecting something far off in the large, empty, windowless room.
"Look at this." Chanyeol called them over, Minseok's eyebrows furrowed. "It's one of Isla's bracelets."
Baekhyun shuffled closer, leaning over his brother's shoulder and staring at the silver bracelet that was splattered with fresh, crimson blood. It seemed to be the only thing in the room, with only a door a few feet away.
"We need to hurry up. This isn't good." Jongin ordered, moving towards the door and throwing it open.
~
Yixing left Eve to attend to her children. He teleported to The Seventh Circle of Hell, where Isla was being kept.
He couldn't describe the feeling in his chest as he thought about her, and about what the twins must of her done to her. He'd grown fond of her, he'd admit, but something else was gnawing away at his cold heart.
Feeling on edge as he walked through an alleyway, seemingly mundane, yet not. Visual tricks like this were to trick humans into believing they were on Earth, into thinking they were invincible. But Yixing knew better than that.
Getting deeper into the circle, an uneasy feeling swept over him.
~
"Well, well, well," Taehyung's deep voice rang out as him and his twin brother appeared in their younger brother's circle of Hell. Limbo.
Eve straightened, already feeling a construction in her chest as a nervousness she hadn't felt in a millennia swept over her body. Eyes falling on her children, she felt the urge to tremble, to call for them to give her a bedtime cuddle as she did when they were younglings.
But these creatures were different. They were cruel. Eyes wholly black, identical grins set on their faces, their suited bodies were opposites, yet they were so alike in every possible way.
"What do you want?" Jimin questioned, voice slightly deeper from the last time she remembered. Yet everything about them had changed, she almost didn't recognise them.
"To talk." Eve responded, squaring her shoulders and setting her chin.
The twins shared a look, Taehyung replied; "we don't want to talk. We have matters we need to be attending to. Spit out whatever you want to say, Eve."
It stung, being called by her name by her child. Yet she didn't show it, she didn't show an ounce of emotion. They were demons now, they always had been, she'd tried to nurture it out of them, but their instinctive nature was too strong.
"You've taken something that doesn't belong to you, I've been informed. Give it back," Eve ordered, trying to cause a long enough distraction, trying to seem like there wasn't a hidden agenda written on her face.
She wasn't sure why she was helping the Son of Cecilia, her friend. Perhaps because his eyes held a kindness that demons couldn't fake. And when he asked her for her help, the barely noticeable desperation in his eyes reminded her of herself when she had to give her children away to the creature she hated most. She knew by that look, that it was a someone that her children had taken, not a something.
The twins laughed in unison, Jimin shaking his head in disbelief. "We knew you'd summoned us for this reason. You're doing our brothers bidding now? They must really feel defeated if they've contacted you."
"Either way," Taehyung shrugged, something glinting in his onyx eyes, "we knew your plan before you even summoned us here."
Eve's heart stopped for a brief moment, but she cocked an eyebrow. "Pardon?"
"You're the distraction, aren't you?" Jimin stepped forward, grin widening, "you're here to grab our attention whilst our brothers try to sneak and grab the mortal female."
A girl. A human. Eve hid her shock.
"Jungkook has gained better control of Limbo now, mother," Taehyung spat the word as if it tasted sour, "and he hears everything. Unfortunately for our brothers, Jungkook's loyalty is to us."
Eve had enough, she stepped forward, close enough to reach out and touch them if she wanted. But her hands were still at her sides, putting every bit of restraint into making sure they didn't tremble.
"It's too late, anyway," Jimin laughed, sharing a delighted look with his twin. "Isla isn't the same girl our brothers knew."
"What did you do..." Eve whispered, disgust curling in her stomach. She'd given birth to these demons, she'd raised them until she couldn't anymore. This was her fault. She should've ended their lives the minute they'd exited her womb. Her stomach twisted at her own sadistic thoughts.
Taehyung's face twitched in slight anger, as if he could sense her thoughts. But his grin reappeared soon after, "we did what us demons do best. We destroy."
"Where is she? Where's the mortal girl?" Just a human girl, who knows how she'd ended up in Hell, and why the nine brothers took a liking for her, but Eve couldn't let this go.
Jimin gave a feigned innocent look, "she's gone home, of course? She's gone back to Earth."
