At the mention of Taeyeon I gripped my chopsticks so tight they almost broke, my nostrils flared and I tried controlling my spiralling temper. Who the fuck-

"Ah, so you've spoke to our sister. Did she tell you about the stunt she pulled on Isla?" Chanyeol questioned, seemingly the only one brave enough to do so.

Yesung grinned and it was horrid, his smile was too wide and too demonic to come across as human and I fought the urge to run away screaming as I instead focused my attention on Chanyeol.

"Yes, she did tell me of that amusing tale." He replied and I could feel his horrid eyes looking at me, assessing.

I almost snapped, but Yixing's ankle brushed against mine in silent warning and I could read the words in his eyes: let Chanyeol and Junmyeon deal with him.

"She has quite the temper, I can smell it." Yesung's voice was nothing short of entertained.

"Don't we know. She threw a pair of scissors at Jongin within mere hours of meeting us." Baekhyun grumbled, sending me a wink.

"Hmm," Yesung hummed, "admirable really. Do you remember the last one? Went absolutely insane and began torturing herself-"

"Yes, brother, we remember." Chanyeol spoke through gritted teeth and I half thought he was going to gut his brother.

"Oh yes, I apologise, Chanyeol." Yesung grinned wider, and the end of his mouth literally touched the corner of his eyes. "I always forget about your affections for the female... a terrible shame, really."

What? Chanyeol? Affections? Another girl? I was so lost and confused I looked to Jongin down the table for guidance, he just gave me a look that said he'd tell me later.

Chanyeol's eyes went from a light shade of icy blue, to the middle Iris expanding and filling out the whole of his eye. I noticed smoke curled around his red hair, twining with the ends of it.

Yixing tensed slightly beside me and that worried me completely as I stared at Chanyeol. His eyes seemed like fiery coal pits and I leaned forward to get a better look, his eyes turning to look at me.

"Isla!" Yixing gripped my shoulder, and I quickly turned my attention to him with a raised eyebrow.

"What?" I muttered and I watched as Yixing relaxed in his chair, a small sigh coming from Junmyeon down the other end of the table.

"Don't look into Chanyeol's eyes." Junmyeon warned me and I turned to him with a frown.

"I've looked into his eyes before?" I trailed off, tempted to look at Chanyeol again.

"Not whilst his eyes are like that. They'll burn you from the inside out, very painful." Jongdae countered, as if he had first hand experience.

"Brother, now isn't the time to discuss Chanyeol's past relations." Junmyeon said carefully to Yesung, whom had a faintly amused expression on his handsome face.

"Really? I was thinking, this human kind of looks like her..." Yesung trailed off, as if in thought, glancing sideways at Chanyeol who's eyes were back to normal and undoubtably glaring at his elder brother. "But, all mortals look the same to me."

"Let's discontinue this conversation." Chanyeol muttered, rage and something like... grief? Behind those perfectly sparkling eyes.

"Your mortal emotions are showing, little brother." Yesung taunted and Chanyeol clenched his fists tightly, turning to look at his own plate.

"You know it's difficult for Chanyeol, being half human." Baekhyun pointed out quietly, and I blinked in surprise.

Chanyeol was half human? That was why he seemed to show more expression than the others? As if on cue, Chanyeol shot me a look as if to keep my mouth shut. I indeed decide to keep quiet about the situation, that's another thing I'll pull from Jongin later on.

The tension in the room grew physically restricting and I reminded myself to take deep breaths, as long as the focus wasn't on me, I would be fine.

As if reading my mind, Yesung's immortal eyes slid to me. "So, child, tell me about yourself."

I hesitated, rightfully so. Anything I revealed could put myself or my family in danger. I glanced sideways at Yixing, whom had a calm look on his face as he inclined his head for me to talk. Damn, looks like the brothers aren't getting me out of this one.

"I'm- uh, I'm 21, I was a college student-" I began but he swiftly cut me off.

"Who's your favourite?" I knew what he was asking, but I simply ignored his question as I stared blankly at my plate. "I've asked you a question, my dear, I suggest you answer it."

I inhaled sharply. "Favourite?"

He nodded with a sinister grin, "who's your favourite out of my brothers."

There was a prolonged silence, and I felt all of their eyes staring at me expectantly. If I chose one, would the others get angry? What type of question was this anyway? It was pointless.

"Me, of course." Jongin's arrogant voice spoke, my eyes casting upwards to see his smirk directed at his brother.

Baekyun scoffed, "please, brother, she threw a pair of scissors at your head."

"Interesting." Yesung muttered, taking another bite of his food.

I clenched my fork, "what's interesting?"

My question made the other brothers stir, and I took note of Chanyeol subtly turning his body as if to jump in front of Yesung if he pounced at me. However, the eldest brother simply shrugged delicately.

"The way you cling to my half-breed brother's side." At his announcement, I suddenly realised how closely I was indeed sitting next to Yixing, almost practically sitting on his lap.

My face flushed and I straightened my chair. Yixing didn't blink, instead his face remained deadpan as he cocked his head to the side. "Half-breed remarks? Really brother?"

Yesung shrugged once again, "what can I say? I find it revolting."

A long stretch of silence had me glancing to Junmyeon, who eyed all of his brothers carefully, as if waiting for one of them to make a stupid comment. Indeed, Jongdae spoke up mischievously; "did Satan send you?"

Yesung chuckled to himself, deep and deadly, making my spine tingle. "Not at all. In fact, father is otherwise occupied with much more pressing matters. I've come on my own will."

I noticed how still and silent Chanyeol was being, his eyes not at all in touch with the ongoing conversation.

"She is a rather unique human isn't she?" Yesung pulled me from my gaze on Chanyeol. "Rather beautiful for a mortal. Perhaps we should send her to Hyuna to-"

Chanyeol's growl was nothing I'd heard before. It was horrific and I subconsciously clutched Yixing's bicep in apprehension, Chanyeol's eyes sparking with flaming anger.

"Stop." Chanyeol snarled.

Yesung gave him an amused look, "did I touch another nerve brother? Perhaps you need to work on burying your useless memories some more."

"Consider yourself lucky I've worked on self restraint." Chanyeol's threat had Kyungsoo tensing beside me, and I didn't fail to notice as he subtly extended a hand in front of me. As if he could protect me from the soon to be fight.

"Chanyeol!" Junmyeon scolded, "watch what you say."

Yesung raised a hand, "no, brother, allow the mortal to speak his mind."

"Chanyeol." I called out, as if I could bring him back to sense. He didn't even turn to me.

"Mortal calls to mortal? A disgrace, let's hope you don't end up falling for and killing this one-" Before Yesung could finish, Baekhyun moved.

And everything happened quicker than I could blink.
