First Watch

Author's note: I'm gonna skip the clear out in the prison building. A quick catch up though.... They clear out the prison, Rick finds 2 sets of keys on a dead guard. He keeps a set for himself and gives a set to Daryl. This chapter starts after the sweep of the prison and everyone is settling into sleeping arrangements... So read and enjoy! xoxo

Jamie's pov:

"there's no way I'm sleeping in that cage like some kind of animal" I rolled my eyes at Daryl's statement "its a cell and its better than sleeping in our cars" I shot back, making Daryl glare at me but I dont care because I'm use to his stares by now.

Daryl ran up the steep steps and looked around the balcony bit. "I'm gonna sleep out here" he muttered, he went into the first cell he saw and dragged out a mattress. I groaned and ran up the stairs where he was standing.

By now nearly everyone was out of sight and in their chosen cells, probably calling it a night. I yelled down to rick who was sitting with his back against the wall.

"hey! you OK man?!" Rick's head snapped up and he stared at us with a confused look in his eyes. I looked from Rick to Daryl and back to Rick again. "gets some rest! we'll take the first watch!"

I could hear Daryl groaning from behind me as Rick nodded and walked into a cell. "how come he gets his own cell?" I turned to Daryl with a smile. "just don't" he walked away and left me standing "what?."

Its cold in here. I hugged myself while sitting on Daryl's 'bed'. I could hear thump, thump, thump of shoes on the steel floor so I knew Daryl was coming back from having a 'piss' as he called it.

Daryl sat down next to me and I tried to not let him see that I was sivering other wise he'd tell me to go to bed and warm up in the covers but I didn't want too.

It was silent, Daryl hadn't said anything since he came back from the bathroom.

"you OK?" I looked at Daryl but he didn't face me. "hey" I turned his head to look at me and he had a cut running all the way down his cheek. how come I never noticed that before?
