I Will Never Leave You

'Where are you going?" "To get ma brother" I stepped in front of Daryl, making him look me in the eyes.

"You don't have to do this alone" I went for his hand but as soon as mine touched his he pulled away. "I have to do this alone" I nodded and stepped back. Daryl sped off to his motorbike and zoomed off down the road.

I watch him go before running to the truck and starting the engine. Like hell I was going to let him go by himself. I followed Daryl at a safe enough distance that he wouldn't notice me.

I then recognized where we were going. It was where Rick had the meeting with the governor. I then notice Daryl turning the corner so I thought I would stop and turn off the truck so I dont get heard.

I waited a while but it was quiet. I heard Daryl's crossbow shoot so I got out my gun and followed him. I got to where his motorcycle was parked just as he turned the corner to the barn.

All of a sudden I saw Daryl's crossbow fall to the ground so I rushed over, stabbing a walker in the head as I did so.

I got round the barn to find the most horrific thing...

Merle. He was... I mean he was... A WALKER! I can't believe this. I saw Daryl just standing there. I put my hand on his should, making him flinch. He turned to face me and he had tears rushing down his face.

Merle was coming towards us. I knew Daryl had to do this so I stepped back and let him handle it.

Merle got pushed a couple of times before Daryl for his knife out and stabbed Merle in the head. It wasn't just one quick stab either. It was several stabs and then Daryl fell to the floor in a fit of tears.

I walked over to him and fell next to him, not taking my eyes off merles corps. That's when it hit me. Merle was dead. My 'brother', my friends was gone. It was like a part of me was ripped away.

I put my arms around Daryl and squeezed him tight as we both cried.

It seemed luke we had sat there forever. Our tears had subsided although Daryl was still sniffing and neither one of us said a single word to each other until...

"You shouldn't have followed me" I looked up at Daryl who pulled away from me. "What?" I crowed in confusion. "You had no right coming out here. I told you not to come but you had to didn't you?" He stood up and started to walk away.

"Daryl!" I ran after him. Once I caught up to him, I grabbed his arm which I guess made him snap as he whipped round and he looked pissed! "I didn't want you there! Ok?!" I stood back in shock. "I though..." "No! You had no right!" I was cut off with dsryls rage.

"Now Merle's dead and..." Daryl started silently sobbing so I walked towards him slowly and took his hand in mine. He looked up at me with a sniff. "I have no one" he said softly. I shook my head in disagreement "you have me"

I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head in his chest ad I felt his arms go around my neck. "I promise I will never leave you" I whispered to him.

I looked up to see him looking at me with a small smile before locking his lips with mine.

In the truck me and Daryl didn't say a single word to each other. We just enjoyed the quiet and morned Merle's death.

Once at the prison everyone was wondering where we had go to. Maggie, beth and Hershel came up to us so I explained what happened with Merle and by the end everyone was feeling sympathetic for Daryl but he felt awkward so he started to walk away.

In the prison Rick was waiting for us. "Where have you been?" "Merle's dead" I said quietly. Rick just gave Daryl a look and patted his back. I need to talk to you both.

We walked to the second floor where we were over looking everyone. Rick then got serious and turned to us.

"Carol has gone" it was said so quickly I almost didn't hear it. But its a joke right? "What?" Daryl sounded a bit angry. "Yeah, she left" Rick is saying this so bluntly that it doesn't sound true. "What about us? What about if the governor comes back?" I squeezed Daryl's hand reassuringly and looked at Rick.

"What happened?" Rick didn't answer. He just left us and walked down the steps to beth and Judith without saying another word.

The governor turned Merle, Daryl killed Merle and now carol is gone! Everything is messed up! I looked at Daryl and he looked at me as he grabbed my hand. "I will never leave you"

Chapter 47! This is the longest fanfiction I have ever written and we're far from finished yet. This is one of my favorite episodes even though I made it up a bit but it really shows Daryl's emotions when he has to kill Merle and let's face it, Merle was a pain in the ass but we loved him and cried when he died (but mainly because Daryl cried )
