Nothing but Memories
Your hurtful words pierce my skin
Broken promises of happy future ahead
But you taught my hollowed self that they
Were fictitious dreams
That left ashes and scars in my hand
Instead of stardust and sparkles in my eyes...
My cries for you to stop fell on deaf ears
And mocking laughter still echoes
In the empty hallways of school
That keep closing in when I shut my eyes
For not a moment of solace I'm able
To scavenge in my bleak pitiful life...
Now I can see the once friendly smile on your face
On the pictures on the walls of our treehouse
Of rotting stones called milestones that
we achieved together as best friends
Like we had been for the entirety of our lives
But that's the sad reality I failed to notice...
Lives fall apart and friends drift away
Because nothing but memories are to stay.
