I woke up to Max playing his video games. I walk out of my room and knock on his door.

"Max keep it down. You're giving me a headache" I leave him to play whatever the hell he is playing.

Later on that day, I had changed into a purple sports bra and my black leggings with ombre purple at the bottom and wrap my hands.

I run down the stairs and go into the back corner of the basement where I have my punching bag hanging from the ceiling and one standing on the floor.

I go around and start doing basic punches to get warmed up. Then I start doing combinations, I throw some kicks at the bag too. I see Jax come around the corner and I yelp and kicked the standing bag and it slid backwards and fell to the ground. Landing right in front of him. I'm covered in sweat and am disgusting.

I roll my eyes and turn to my right and continue punching the bag.

Jax walks over to me and stops the bag I'm currently punching, I steady the bag and I look at him my blood now boiling.

Wait, how did he get inside my house? Max must have let him in. Note to self: have a talk with Max on who and who not to let into the house and when to notify me when someone is here.

"Where'd you learn how to do that?" He asks me in a gentle voice.

"Why does it matter to you anyway? It's none of your business." He takes a step back as if he's offended and I start punching again. But this time he doesn't stop the bag he takes my waist and pushes me against the wall. My heart starts pounding out of my chest. He stands close to me with on hand on my waist still and the other above me supporting himself on the wall. His breath shifted and suddenly was uneven as he looked down at me from my eyes to my lips.

Hold up, what? Did he just, yup he's staring at my lips, shitttt. I feel the butterflies in my stomach increase with his closeness.

"Now bonita, can you please tell me where you learned those moves?" I opened my mouth to tell him but then I close it. I almost told him, but I can't tell him, I can't let him know. I let out a sigh. I manage to push him off of me with my free hand and walk towards the punching bag.

"I learned it from my dad before he died. He taught me some basic self defense moves." I respond hoping that he will believe me.

What? It was somewhat the truth. I turn around to him and he is giving me a questionable look. I'm in some deep shit now.

"But that didn't look like some basic moves to me sweetheart." Fuck, shit, shit. "There's something you're not telling me. What is it?"

"I'm not, not telling you anything. If that made any sense to you." I look up and around the room avoiding his eyes. He takes his hand off my waist and the skin there burns longing for his warm touch again. He brings his hand up to my chin and turns my face so I'm looking him right in the eyes.

"You are one sort of a mystery to me Averie Kingston. And I promise you, I will figure it out." He says as his eyes flicker from my lips back to my eyes. He pushes himself off the wall and makes his way towards the stairs and finally up it. I let out the breath that I was holding in and punched the bag one more time. I unwrapped my hands while I went up the stairs realizing that I split my knuckles open.

"Fuck..." I mumble as I slam the door to the basement behind me.

The next morning, I get up at 6 o'clock and Max is still sleeping. I think about waking him up to go train with me, but I decide against it. I put on a pink sports bra and black leggings. I eat a protein bar deciding that I will puke if I have anything heavier.

I wrap my hands as I make my way to the basement, closing the door behind me. I stretch and then do some warm up punches. I work out for around two hours and decide to go wake Max up.

I rush up the stairs taking off the wraps on my hands and drag Max out of bed, literally. He gets so scared that he stands up and punches the air slightly missing my arm. I give him a death stare, and then start to laugh.

"Let's go time to work out bud.." I turn to walk out the door but turn back to him. "And we will talk about your aiming later." He gives me a smile and nods his head.

After a few minutes I hear Max coming down the stairs.

"I'm ready." He says with a small smile as he wraps his hands.

"Alright well we will be working on your fighting skills today and apparently your aim." We both laugh.

We train for about three hours, by the time we are done we go out for lunch. Max picked the diner that's down the street from our house.

I'm really not that big on cheese burgers but let me tell you they make one hell of a burger. We walk inside, and the smell of grease and fries hits me. We go up to the counter and order our food, I turn around to see Max already sitting down in a booth.

I walk over to see that he's talking to someone. I come around the corner and stand in front of the table. To my luck he's talking to the one and only, Jax. I look at him and he sends me a smirk, and then looks back at Max and nods as to what he was saying. I groan and roll my eyes as I walk away. From behind me I hear Jax excuse himself and I only hope that he isn't coming after me. I can't face him right now, or at least I don't want to. Something happened last night, and he can't find out about me, or Max.

"Averie, please?" He grabs hold of my waist and turns me around. I cross my arms and look at him with a raised eyebrow.

"What do you want Jax? If you're here to talk about last night, don't because I don't want to talk about it and frankly I don't want to talk to you." I turn back around to see if our food is up yet.

"Averie... please talk to me. I just want to get to know you." Jax says grabbing my arm. I pull away quickly and I roll my eyes. My back is still facing toward him, so he doesn't see it. My phone vibrates, and I look at it to see its Max.

Maxy: Just give him a chance Aves, he likes you.

Ugghh, seriously. Knowing that I can't argue with Max I turn back to Jax and look at him with a raised eyebrow. He looks me in the eyes and I start to see his lips curling up into a smile.

"Tonight?" He says finally letting his grin show, with his perfect, straight, white teeth. I nod my head slightly to let him know yes. "I'll pick you up at 7," He steps closer to me and whispers in my ear. "oh, and nice shorts."

He steps back and winks at me on his way out. I feel the heat creeping onto my face as I start to blush. Wait a second, I was looking him in the eyes the entire time how did he... OH MY GOD. That douche bag was staring at my ass when I had my back towards him.

"Hey yo, Kingston. You're orders up." I hear Dave's voice from behind the counter calling me snapping me out of thought. I walk over the counter and thank him. "Enjoy" he replies with a smile. I walk back to the table and give Max a faint smile before we dive in.
