Where the hell is my car?? I go through my bag in search of my phone, that's when I realize that I gave my brother the spare keys to my car. As soon as I find my phone I dial his number.

"Max?" I said angrily.

"Yes....?" He answered in a small voice.

"You wouldn't happen to know what the hell happened to my car?"

"Umm, maybe."

"Maximilian Miguel Kingston, what did you do?"

"I left school early and took your car with me."

"You better not be getting into trouble, because I am not getting you out of it again." I whispered the last part.

"No I won't I promise."

"Alright fine, but be home by 6 you got me?"

"Alright Aves I love you." He said excitedly.

"Love ya too, bye." I hung up and looked round there really wasn't anyone here.

I don't live that far so I decide just to walk home. I start walking off of the school property when a motorcycle pulls up, stopping me from walking.

"What the hell you asshole." I screamed at the motorist. He took off his helmet to reveal it was Jax.

"Hey there beautiful, what are you doing walking all alone?"

"Jax, move out of my way I need to get home and frankly I'm not in the mood for you right now." I roll my eyes he reaches out and grabs my forearm and I look back at him.

"Listen? Please." I look him in the eyes and they are sort of begging me to give him a chance.

"Ugh, fine. What is it Jax?"

"I was going to offer to take you home."

"No it's fine, don't worry about out, I'll be fine." I try to tug free of his grip and he pulls me closer. I was almost right up against his chest now, I can feel his body heat projecting off of him. My heart starts to beat faster, and my stomach starts to get butterflies.

I look up to his eyes... ugh his eyes. No Averie focus.

I look into his eyes once more and they are emotionless, and his face is blank.

"Averie, let me take you. It's dangerous walking home alone in a city like this." Before I understand what I'm doing I'm nodding and he's handing over a helmet. I put it on and get on the bike after him. I put my hands on his shoulders, but he turns his head slightly, just enough to let me see he was laughing. He shakes his hand, grabs my hands and puts them around his waist.

"Address?"

"523 Ice Avenue." He nods as he revs the engine and takes off.

We pull up to my street and I point to my house and he nods.

"Thanks for the ride." I say as I jump off the bike and hand him the helmet back.

"No problem, I just don't want you getting hurt, or whatever.." He shrugs. He looked deep into my eyes and opened his mouth to say something but closed it deciding not to speak..

"Alright well, I'm going to go inside. Uh Jax... do you uh, wanna come in? I'm ordering food for us and my brother should be home in a bit and if anything, you should be talking to him about not getting into trouble." He nods his head and follows me up the stairs and into my living room.

I stay at the front door Jax through. Just as I look up, I see Jax almost hesitate to come in, but he does anyway. I tell Jax where the kitchen was while I put my stuff in my room.

I come back downstairs to see that Jax poured himself a cup of water, he was sitting at the island with his feet up and looking through his phone.

"Comfortable?" I ask taking his feet off of the table. He smirks at me and I roll my eyes. "What kind of pizza do you like, I'm getting Hawaiian because that's my favorite."

"Funny, because that's actually my favorite pizza too." He leans on the table and smirks while looking me in the eyes with the look.

"Ohh no, no way. You're doing it again."

"Doing what?" The smile on his face grows.

"You know what." I say glaring at him. I sit next too Jax as I order the pizza. A few minutes later my brother walks in the door.

"Hey sis, I'm home." His voice echoes through the house.

"In the kitchen Max." I yell back at him.

"Hey Aves, who's bike is that outs-" That's when he looks at Jax, his smile is gone and his eyes are instantly turned to fear. "Uh oh."

He tries running away but Jax grabs him by the back of the shirt and drags him to chair and pushed him slightly to sit down. He looks at me for a sign of help and I shake my head and glare at him, while Jax is looking at him with such a death look he might burn a hole through him.

"Where ya been, Max?" Jax asks him.

"You see funny story about that..."

"Where were you Kingston?"

"I um, I was!" Max looked at me and my eyes widened. "Aves" He says my name in a low voice. I give him the same death look that Jax gave him while Max looked at me with fear in his eyes.

"You weren't." I managed to spit out. I'm still looking at him when the doorbell rings notifying us that the pizza guy was here. Jax offers to go get it as he quickly walks toward the door. I still haven't taken my eyes off of him and I can feel Jax's eyes on me too.

"Averie I'm sorry, I needed to blow off some steam and I knew we needed the money, but I didn't get hurt I promise. Today has been the only day I've been there without you."

"Maximus Matthew Kingston, what did I tell you about going back there?" My voice was a little lower so Jax couldn't hear me. My blood was boiling that he would go back there especially by himself.

"Sis, I'm sorry I-"

"No, Max, no excuses this time. I'm so done right now. I can't believe you had the nerve to pull something like this."

"I know Aves, I'm sorry." I walk away from the kitchen and pass by Jax on my way to sit on the steps outside leaving the front door open.

I can hear Jax ask Max what happened while I walk out the door.

Whenever I got mad at Max I always sat on the front steps and watched the cars go by and the sky change colors as the day grew into night, until I was calm again to go inside. You know, to get away from the situation for a while.

I could hear the whispers of Jax and Max, but I choose to ignore it. Even though he went behind my back and went to the fighting rink without me I know he won't tell anyone the truth on where he went and what I do. He knows I'll definitely hurt him.

Jax came outside and sat on the side of me. He looked at me, then at the sky.

"You know, I have siblings too. You can't stay mad at them forever. At least he apologized for doing something bad."

"I know, but you have no idea how many times I told him not to go- I mean do what he did, so he wouldn't get hurt, or into trouble." I stumble on my words as my face goes red. I can't believe I almost spilled.

"He may only be three years younger than you, but he's just trying to be a kid and enjoy life. If he doesn't now then he may never will." I look at him and shyly smile, he gets up and goes back inside. A few seconds later I get up and make my way inside. As I look into the kitchen I see Jax and Max stuffing their faces with food."Come on over here you, we saved some Hawaiian pizza for you." Max says slightly smiling at me as Jax winks. I roll my eyes and walk over to the kitchen sink as I wash my hands.
