Always Bad

Chapter Eight

I walk into school and see Noah, I'm about to walk over to him to say hello, but then I see a bike I know all too well. I don't even look any further because if I look him in the eyes I might have a mental breakdown. That's when I notice that Noah left his stance next to Jax. He comes over and puts an arm around my shoulder.

"Hey, how you hanging up?" He looks at me with a sympathetic smile.

"I'm doing fine."

"Well, I might have something that might make you feel even better." He takes my hand and stands in front of me.

"Will ... uh... you... go out with me?" I don't even know what to say. That's when I get a text from Maddie, I quickly take a glance at it.

Maddie: Do this for me pleasse?

I internally roll my eyes at her, but as I look back up at Noah, I realize Jax is staring at us. I smirk and finally give my answer. Knowing Jax's eyes are on my every move right now.

"I would love to, Friday? There's a party we can go to together?"

"Sure! Sounds good." His smile grows and is smiling from ear to ear.

"Alright sounds like a plan." I smile and step closer to him and place a little kiss on his cheek. His cheeks change to a light shade of pink. And I see Jax's face, he looks pissed. Success.

Friday afternoon really can't come soon enough. I've had two tests this week because I skipped almost the whole week last week. And tomorrow I have another one, so looks like I'm pulling another all-nighter. Today is finally Thursday and I can't wait for tomorrow, so I can set up Maddie and Noah. But if Noah likes me that's going to complicate things. I'm snapped out of my little thought/scheme day dreaming by the doorbell. I open it to find Noah on the other side with pizza in his hand.

"Excuse me sir, but I didn't order a pizza." I laugh and give him a smile.

"I know but this is a please don't hate me pizza for what I'm about to tell you." He smiles worried. I laugh and invite him inside. He puts the pizza on the table and open it as I grab plates for us.

"Let me guess, you like Maddie and were too scared to actually ask her out so you asked me out instead and then hoped that I would set you up with her?" He looks at me with his mouth wide open and he drops his slice. I laugh more at this.

"What? How?"

"I'm a good observer, plus it was a long shot so if you had liked me then this conversation would have been very awkward." He laughs along with me.

"Honestly, it's not that I was scared to ask her out, it was that I didn't know if Lucas would approve. I know they are close and I really didn't want to be knocked out in the middle of asking her out."

"That's true but don't worry she will be there, Averie to the rescue."

"Thanks, anyway I've gotta run. I'll see you tomorrow in class."

"Alright... hey wait, who am I going to the party then?"

"I have a friend who wants to hang out with you, you'll see him at the party tomorrow. Bye."

"Ummm, okay." But the door was already shut, and he was already starting his car and taking off.

"Miss. Kingston, can you stay back for a minute, I would like to talk to you."

"Yes, Mr. Berlo?"

"I just wanted to congratulate you on this." He handed me back my test and I got a 98 on it. My eyes widen, and I quickly flip through it to see that I got everything right except I forgot to mention something in my open response question.

"Wow."

"You are the only person who got that high of a grade. This is why I knew that honors would be good for you. It gave you a challenge and you succeeded. Keep up the good work Averie." He smiled at me and I returned one.

"Thank you, have a good weekend Mr. Berlo."

"You too, Miss. Kingston." I walk out of the classroom and to my car. Finally, the end of the day. When I get there, Maddie is already waiting for me.

"Gee, what took you so long?" I hand over my test for her too look at, she grabs it and gets inside the car. I walk around to the driver's side and hop in myself.

"Wow, Aves this is amazing!"

"Thank you, and it only took me getting no sleep at all last night to get that grade." Maddie's eyes widened.

"You didn't get any sleep? Well maybe we should stay home then. I'll make you some dinner and we can just sit and watch some movies."

"Madds, if this is you trying to get out of tonight. It's really not going to work, but nice try." I pat her on the head and start busting out laughing while Maddie sits there with a frown on her face.

"Oh, that was good." I wipe the tears from my eyes from me laughing so hard.

"Can we just please go and start getting ready?"

"Alright, I'm going, I'm going."

So a little reconstructing. I had ten chapters posted but then decided to change one thing that changed a bunch of other things, but I promise it will be back up by the end of this week.
