Chapter 9: Lunch

The bell rang signaling the end of class. Mr. Kim told everyone to leave the desks where they were as the next class would have it ready. Everyone started getting up gathering their stuff. 

Hoseok handed the phone back to Taehyung, not failing to notice the way their fingers brushed past each other, as if it was fire Hoseok quickly pulled his hand away and stood up. "Um so we can discuss this project further on Saturday, let's meet up around 12?".

Taehyung was looking at his phone, distracted by something on it but gave a thumbs up, signaling he approved. Jungkook still looked displeased but nodded and also got up.

"I have football practice early on Saturday but I should be able to make it at that time". He slid his backpack over his shoulder and walked away. Guess the project was going to get done on Saturday. 

Hoseok also started getting ready to walk out but remembered something.

Digging through his backpack he found what he was searching for. Walking over to Taehyung he placed the brown paper bag lunch in front of him. "I'm sorry I almost forgot to give this to you, it's the lunch I promised". 

Taehyung's expression suddenly brightened, making Hoseok feel it too. "I can still remember the taste from last night, it was that good. Thank you for bringing this for me, we have the same class for next period right? Let's eat lunch together".

Hoseok usually ate with Namjoon and Yoongi but he remembered they were gonna skip lunch today to work on their book report in the library. He smiled and nodded, "sure! I'd love to".

Taehyung grabbed the lunch along with his phone off the desk, "let's go then".

Hoseok and Taehyung looked around the crowded cafeteria and spotted Jimin and Jungkook's table, also known as the football table. It was always full.

Wondering where they would sit he was about to ask when he felt Taehyung's larger hand easily grab onto his wrist and pull him out the cafeteria doors to the courtyard area. It was really nice weather and he expected it to be full of student eating out here, and as expected he was right, it looked even more crowded than the cafeteria.

"Taehyung, we can just try to squeeze into one of the tables in there", he said as he pointed back to the tables.

Taehyung led him further out, still holding onto his wrist. He followed along, still a bit confused. "I know a good place we can sit and eat, just the two of us".

Following along, the pair walked for another minute before Hoseok spoke up when he noticed where they were. "Taehyung, this area is part of the old school building, I don't think we can be over here". The building looked normal and functional, the only difference being that it was lock padded shut, as the school had recently opened up a new facility and were in the process of rebuilding the old building. 

"We're not going inside, well we could, but that's not where I'm taking you". 

Hoseok saw what Taehyung meant. Just to the side of the door was an open space with a table and beautiful trees that overlooked the track and football field in the distance. Guessing the other students didn't venture here because it was still considered part of the old building's property Hoseok was definitely impressed. This is something he felt he would never discover and it took a special person to know about. He was glad Taehyung had showed this to him. 

"Wow, this place is perfect".

Taehyung placed the lunch bags on the table and sat down, "yeah I ran into it yesterday, I am not too fond of crowds".

Sitting down, Hoseok hummed and felt the cool breeze brush past him. He had never experienced eating outside before, as he usually ate in the cafeteria or in the student council room with his friends or sometimes alone.

"Thank you for showing me this".

Taehyung chuckled "you don't have to thank me, I might have ulterior motives". 

Hoseok didn't know what that meant and decided he didn't want to push further as he saw Taehyung start digging into his lunch. His pleased expression reminding him of last night. He really enjoyed his cooking and that made him feel happier than it probably should.

"I wasn't kidding when I said I could eat this for the rest of my life".

Hoseok felt the creep of a blush hit his cheeks, he was never that good at receiving compliments. "Are you blushing Hoseok?"

Hoseok looked up at the boy that had decided to start teasing him. 

"I am not", he said with a pout.

Taehyung chuckled and pointed his fork at Hoseok, "not very credible when your cheeks are literally the color of your tie".

Looking down at his red tie, Hoseok covered his face in his hands and felt the warmth on his palms.

"So cute".

"Stop teasing me so much", deciding he couldn't hide his face forever, Hoseok started eating his own lunch. 

"I can't help it you know", Taehyung added.

He felt Taehyung's stare on him again and finally looked up at the strong pair of eyes, and sure enough he was being stared at. The taller boy got up from his seat and moved to sit right next to Hoseok on the table. Taken aback by the action, Hoseok was about to ask but got cut off by the deep voice of Kim Taehyung. 

"I was waiting to see if you would notice but it seems you won't", Taehyung's voice felt deeper than before and his tone sounded different when hearing it so close. It was the voice he had encountered last night in his room, the voice that probably caused that dream he didn't want to think about, especially right now.

Hoseok was about to ask what he meant but he didn't trust his voice to work right now so he stayed quiet. 

Suddenly he felt Taehyung's long finger slide to his lips and brush past them in a slow manner that made Hoseok hold his breath. 

"I can't let you walk around with spaghetti sauce on that cute face of yours right?" Taehyung brought his own finger to his lips and licked off the spaghetti sauce, "delicious".

Hoseok let out the breath he was holding, lightly hitting Taehyung's shoulder and moved further back in his seat to increase the distance between them, "geez...you could have just told me".

Taehyung shrugged and moved back to his seat across from Hoseok. "I think that's another thing I can't help".
