Sarah POV-

A couple weeks later, I decided to give my 'mom' a chance. I enrolled in my town's high school, and the first day is tomorrow.

My mom is now living with me, and she is helping me take care of my brothers. I appreciate it, but I preferred if she left, after all I don't really know her.

Night time came, and I was so nervous for school tomorrow I couldn't even sleep. I didn't even know if my fellow students would like me or even talk to me. Maybe they would think that I'm just another girl in the crowd, or maybe another girl to pick on. But those thoughts soon disappeared as I realized slumber took over me.

-------------------------------------

I heard my alarm clock ringing in my ear, and I groaned as I sat up. The scent of bacon traveled through my nose, and made me sigh with delight.

I got up, got dressed, did my hair and makeup, then trotted down the stairs with my backpack.

"Morning." I greeted everyone as I sat at the kitchen counter.

"Morning!" They sang back. I smiled as I took a bite of a bacon strip.

"Are you excited for today?" Susan, my 'mother', asked.

I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know, kind of nervous."

"Don't be, you'll be fine." She assured me, and touched my hand that had my 'R' ring on it. "Thanks mom." I said, then threw my plate away.

I checked the clock, and found it was 7:41. "Better get going!" I sang as I collected my belongings. I kissed everyone's cheek, then walked out the door and down the sidewalk to school.

I stopped as I reached the wooden double doors to my high school. I took a deep breath, then walked in.

I saw everyone hurrying around, everyone talking at their lockers, and girls putting their makeup on as they look at the mirror in their locker.

I walked to the locker I was assigned to, but was immediately interrupted by a boy who shut my locker right in my face.

I looked to see who it was, and it was a black haired, tall boy and has a tank top on and jean shorts, along with a pair of Jordans on his feet. Not going to lie, he was attractive.

"May I help you?" I asked.

"Oh nothing, my locker is right next to yours and I know you're the new girl, so I was wondering if you needed anything." He replied, his light blue eyes sparkling every word he spoke.

"Sure, I could use some help." I said with a smile. "Alright cool, I'll take your books and I'll show you around." He said with a wink, then took my books from my hands. "Thank you!" I said, then we strolled around the halls together.

"This is the courtyard," he explained as he showed me an outdoor area with picnic tables and a fountain. "Us students usually study here and eat lunch. It's relaxing."

"It seems like it." I said as I took in the view. I felt his fingers lightly brush mine, and he soon intertwined them together. It felt wrong, but at the same time it didn't.

I looked up at him and smiled, and he did too. "Thanks for the tour." I said softly. "Anything for the most beautiful girl in this school." He said with a wink, then walked off back into the school.
