Today we arrived at Bummerville. It was glorious weather there, high twenties to low thirties, Celsius, or about 70's to high 80's farien height. We stopped at a 'Big 4' caravan park and checked in there. It was about one o'clock by then so we decided to grab some lunch and take a wonder around town.
"Damien, this doesn't seem like the place that would have an institute of science," I sais as we were discovering the rural area of farms and stores that we had just arrived at, "I mean, I've always imagined science institutes to be in huge cities with bright lights, and workaholics that pick up their coffee and donut on the way to work in the morning",
"Look. All I know is that something is here that will be crucial in finding Click". We all nodded showing we understood him.
The day passed in barely a blink. And I'm not joking in that. Clouds had caved in by four and it was pouring with rain 15 minutes later. The local people of Bummerville were running around to find shelter and trying their hardest not to step in a massive puddle. The pack and I were splashing mud at each other and swimming in puddles. We were going to have a shower when we get back to the 'Big 4', but for now we are living the life, a little dirty if might say.
I think for a little while there we got away from our troubles and lived a normal life for a while. I know it probably sounds crazy and so terrible at the same time to forget about your un-biological sister and everything but we needed it.
We went for a late afternoon tea. I think it hit us then. We sat there, drank our drinks, ate the 42 cakes we had bought and didn't look at each other.
"Tonight. We need to find out why we're here, tonight." Damien said in the midst of our nibbling and slurping.
"We're here because of your magical fingers and their fancy for the map." Scar protested.
"Hey! Don't get funky with me brother! All I'm trying to say is that I was told to come here. I wanna know why."
"Damien does have a point," Solio put in. I love it when we are all serious, "He was pointed here for a reason. The locals seem like they would be pretty settled into their homes and night, so we might as well start tonight".
"You guys are right. Mimi, Scar, you in?" I asked.
"I am," Mimi stated. We all turned to Scar.
"Sure. Why not?”
"Good. So where should we start?” I dictated.
"Somewhere historical." We whipped our heads to the cute voice it came from.
"Whoa Mimi, sophisticated words for a seven year old."
"Shh yo face. But seriously, think about it. We aren't here to find Click, but we are more likely here to find clues to help us find her. No offenses to them, but like the locals are going to know about human-wolf DNA mixed hybrids. Historical places, people!” Scar, Damien and I looked at each other, speechless. We had just got this from a seven year old.
"Mimi, I think you're right", I stated patting her on the head as I did, "How about we go back to the caravan park, get showered, washed up and into fresh, clean clothes, then be out by 7?"
"Sounds like a plan," Damien agreed and then we left.
The town was great at night. Street lights lit up the paths that were glistening from the rain in the moonlight. The rain made the clouds disappear so you could see the stars building up the constellations.
Damien was chasing Mimi and Solio through the streets, so I was alone with Scar.
"Bonnie?'
"Yeah".
"It's really great what you're doing".
"What am I doing?"
"Don't play dumb with me. You and I both know that it is taking you everything not to break down right now."
"It is", I shook my head, disappointed, "but as soon as I let my emotions get to me it will become so much harder to find her." I felt a tug on my right shoulder.
"Can we play at the park?"
"Sorry Mimi. Maybe tomorrow. You guys run home and we'll meet you there, okay?" I turned to Scar, "Can you believe it's only six o'clock?"
"Not one bit, it's already so dark". Then he put his arm around my shoulder. "I can't wait until this is all over".
"Me neither," I agreed. "What do you think she's doing right now?"
* * *
I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my wet, freshly washed hair. I grabbed another one and dried my body. I couldn't get Scar out of my head. The way he put his arm around was different. But I couldn't let that disturb me, I had answers to get.
Once I had completely dried myself I threw on a pair of black jeans and a maroon cardigan, with high legged boots. I chucked my hair in a bun, and pulled out my bangs.
Let's rock this bitch.
