MAYA POV
I got into the taxi and told the driver the address to the house I had recently brought. It was one of the things I was actually looking forward to seeing here in London. I leaned my head back against the plush seat and closed my eyes.
I was done with London. I had never hated a place more than I hated London at the moment. All of the people were monsters who did not care about anyone but themselves.
I banged the back of my head against the solid bathroom cupboard again hoping all of the bad memories would just disappear. But when I opened my eyes again, they were all still there swirling around in my head.
Today not only had I gotten beaten as usual but I also got several knife slashes on my legs. They looked horrible and would not stop bleeding.
Lucas was not involved in this. It was all Christa. She yanked me to the girl's bathroom accusing me of flirting with Lucas and the next minute, I was on the floor being held down by her as she painfully slashed open the skin on my legs. I screamed and screamed yet nobody listened. It was achingly slow and the pain was excruciating. I had never felt anything like this before. There was nothing I could do except lie there and let her do this to me.
I needed to release all this pain and hatred I have of myself. With shaking hands I grab the razor from the cupboard. I hold it firmly against my wrist. This is because of you Christa and your little gang. I hope you're happy. It's what you wanted anyway. And with tears streaming down my face, I begin to tug the razor across leaving a trail of blood behind. However strangely, it didn't hurt as much. It felt good. I did it again and again until I felt satisfied. Small droplets of blood started dripping down my arm and staining the carpet. I grabbed some toilet paper and held it against the fresh wounds.
This was not healthy for me at all. I knew what I needed to do to stop all of this from happening again.
I needed to leave London for good.
"Miss, we have arrived."
I heave open my heavy eyelids and turn my head to face the window. Wow this was it. The house was beautiful. I don't know how long I sat there and just stared at the house but I could see from the corner of my eye that the driver was getting impatient. I gave him an apologetic look and gave him the money.
"Keep the change." I smiled at him one last time before getting out of the taxi with my luggage.
As soon as I got out, the taxi drove away and I was left all alone just like I had been all my life. I looked up at where I would be living for a while. It was small and simple, but beautiful. And it was mine.
There was a reason why I brought this particular house. It's not far from where Lucas and Missy live which would make it easier for me to start my revenge. I smirk to myself. They won't know what hit them.
I searched for my keys and shoved them into the keyhole. I instantly dropped all of my luggage while slamming the door shut. I walked into the living room. It was perfect. Not too big and not too small. The kitchen was just right however I have no idea how to cook. I guess it will be take outs for me. I smile to myself content. I guess London is not that bad after all.
I am snapped out of my trance when I hear the knocking of the door. Who would be visiting me now? I just got in! Frowning to myself, I make my way to the front door.
As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by breathtaking brown eyes. He had tattoos all over his muscular arms. His hair was ruffled at the sides.
"Hello there. I heard you just moved in and wanted to say hi. I live just across the road from you." He says in his velvety British accent. I wonder if he knows Lucas or Missy. I give him the fakest smile I can muster. I honestly did not want to talk to anyone right now even if they were hot. He was wearing plain black jeans and a black tee yet he still looked good making me look like a potato. I probably looked disgusting right now. I mean I was on a sweaty aeroplane for over 7 hours! I look down at what I was wearing. Oh well, who cares!
"Hey I'm Katy." Katy was my mother's name. I could not under any circumstances let people know who I really was. I stick out my hand for him to shake but he ignores it. Rude! I guess he's not used to talking to strangers much.
"I'm Zay" He replies simply. "What is an innocent girl like you doing at a place like this now?" He asks curiously.
"It looked like a nice house and I could afford it." I lie. I have always been a good liar. I could look people in the eye and tell them a lie and they would believe it. Zay here also seems to be buying it.
"Oh ok. Where did you come from then?"
"Florida." Lie again. I moved to California.
"Oh, ok then. I guess I should let you finish unpacking then." He replies awkwardly.
I nod and give him a small smile.
"Oh and Katy?"
"Yeah?"
"It's never safe around here. One minute you're alive and the next you are screaming for help and yet nobody cares." And with that, he walks off.
I shut the door with confusion. What did that mean? The words sounded familiar. I shrugged it off and grabbed all of my luggage. I have a lot of unpacking to do.
Starbucks. The only thing I actually like in London. The bitter aroma of coffee tingles my nose as I take yet another sip of my coffee. It is a cold winter morning and the warm coffee makes my insides all warm and calm. For the first time in a while, I feel content.
I usually skip the first hour of school just so I see 'them' a little less. This is not how I should live my life. Cowering away from everything. I sigh to myself.
As I take another delicious sip from my steaming hot coffee, the door squeaks open and a gust of the freezing cold wind enters the building for a second. I don't take much notice of who has just entered and to be honest, I really couldn't care anymore.
As I place my mug down, I notice I am not sitting on my own anymore. I jump a little before realising who those familiar chestnut curls belong to. My hands instantly start to tremble with fear and I hide them under the table.
"Hello there love." He says displaying his gorgeous dimples on each cheek.
"Hi. Why aren't you at school?" I ask hesitantly. Suddenly his whole face drops into a frown.
"You make it seem like you don't want me here" He says almost threateningly. I don't want you here that's why.
"N-no I was just curious." I stutter.
"Well then keep your curiosity to yourself." he says sternly. I swear he is bipolar. One second he is all happy and cheery the next he wants to rip my head off.
"S-sorry." I manage to get out. Why was I being such a coward? Oh yeah, because this guy could practically kill me if he wanted to.
He leans in closer so his curls gently rest on his forehead.
"You know, sorry is a bit late once you've killed somebody." He says staring right into my green orbs.
I was taken aback by his comment. What was that supposed to mean? Was he going to kill me? Had he killed someone before? I gulped and my hands started trembling even more.
He saw my reaction and smirked. This is the reaction he wanted from me. He liked being in control. He stands up and walks over towards me.
"Just remember kitten, It's never safe around here. One minute you're alive and the next you are screaming for help and yet nobody cares." He whispers right in my ear before walking outside. I let go of the breath that I didn't know I was holding.
Was that a threat? I honestly did NOT want to find out.
With trembling hands, I hold my mug and take another small sip to relieve the burden on my shoulders. It's funny how I came in Starbucks all happy and content but as soon as he walks in I want to just fall into a pit of darkness.
