I was right about Bree faking her excitement.
The minute we slid into seats next to each other despite Ms. Corus saying we had assigned seats, her smile dropped and she faced me with grim determination.
"So, let's talk," she muttered, her green eyes narrowing on me.
I faked being oblivious and gave her round, innocent eyes. "About what?"
Just then Winter walked in and Bree's eyes flicked to her and back to me. "About that."
I let out a soft groan and just knew I wouldn't get out of this. I made sure Winter had chosen a seat, far away from us, and then decided to speak. Not everyone was in here because the bell hadn't rang and Ms. Corus was busy scrawling her name across the smartboard and organizing a stack of papers -- syllabus'.
"Alright fine."
Bree's eyes lightened up their dark color considerably. "So...?"
"So you were right, he deserves someone to be happy with. That's all," I murmured as more students poured in.
"That's it? All you have to say is 'I'm right?'"
I narrowed my eyes at her with a frown. "What else am I suppose to do?"
Bree looked at me as though I was stupid. "Get him back!" she squealed, her red, curly hair moving as she bounced in her seat.
"What?! You were the one who said he deserves to be happy!" I exclaimed, careful of the people who now streamed in and took seats around us.
"And he does. But if you liked him and still do, then he can be happy with you," she said with a sly smile on her face.
Her smile was contagious and I couldn't help smiling back, but I shook my head at her antics and turned to the front as the bell rang.
Ms. Corus introduced herself and began going through the long list of rules in her classroom, what we'd be learning and other boring things like the seating chart which we all groaned at, but didn't budge.
In a class that I had Bree or Jace in I never had to worry about the bullying because either one would stand up for me and get themselves sent down to the principal's office for punching anyone knowing just how passive I was.
Both of my limited friends had said to tell them if I was getting bullied in classes that they weren't in, but I always refused, there wasn't much they could do and I was so used to it.
I shook my head of my negative thoughts, or at least tried to, they were always there to haunt me and remind me of my lowly existence.
Ms. Corus' voice suddenly cut through me shoving my thoughts away. "Everyone stand up!"
"What?" someone groaned.
Ms. Corus narrowed her eyes, but kept the bright smile on her face. "That's right! Up you go!"
Bree and I shared a look, but shuffled to our feet like the rest of the class.
"Now then, I'd like you all to take a step to your right," Ms. Corus instructed. We all obeyed and I gulped as I realized I was no longer facing Bree.
"You're all standing in front of someone new right?" Corus asked.
We said nothing, our silence uncomfortable and maybe a tad bit hostile.
"Good. I'd like you to introduce yourself and tell this person three facts about you and remember those facts. You'll all be using this as your first assignment tomorrow."
