The Good Side

Chapter 35: Strong

Grayson brushed Raelynn's hair with his fingers to calm her crying as Frank sped to the hospital with Clara holding a bag in front of Raelynn's face in case she threw up. Grayson was wiping not only his tears away but hers as well.

They arrived at the hospital and Grayson carried her in behind Clara who ran to the front desk. "My niece she needs a room now! She's extremely pale, throwing up, and in a lot of pain." Clara spoke through pain.

Grayson felt Raelynn shivering so he tightened the blanket around her as he held her. "It hurts." She groaned moving trying to stop it but it didn't work and threw up in the bag Clara had given her.

They brought a bed out for her and Grayson laid her on it as they pushed her past the doors as fast as they could. Ethan and Maddy rushed in with everyone behind them. Grayson pulled his brother in for a tight hug as he cried over the love of his life's state. Maddy joined their hug and cried with Grayson as she was too worried about her best friend.

They all gathered in the waiting room. Veronica and George arriving later as always. "Anything yet?" She asked as Stella ran into Grayson's arms. He shook his head. "What's even going on with her? Or been going on with her?"

"I don't know. She told me it was cramps I didn't think she was going to puke her brains out." He said as Stella was clinging onto him.

"It's been happening for the past few days. She would eat, then throw up later in the night getting the pains. She didn't want to tell you Grayson because she didn't want you to worry. I just found out tonight." Clara confirmed as she rubbed Grayson's back.

"I just need her to be okay." Grayson said starting to cry again. He squeezed his mothers hand and rested his head against Stella's own.

"Those here for Raelynn Smith." A doctor had spoken.

Grayson stood up fast holding Stella and going over with Clara, Frank, and Veronica. Everyone behind them. "Is she okay?" Grayson asked instantly.

"We have to perform immediate surgery on her because her appendix had burst. We are going to try and prevent an infection before it spreads around her body. She has requested to see Clara, Frank, Grayson, and Stella before she goes in though."

"What about me I'm her mother?" Veronica questioned.

"I'm sorry but she did not request your name."

Those who's names were called, walked back with the doctor to Raelynn's room. They saw her lying there in the hospital bed wearing a hospital gown. Grayson put Stella down and took her cold hand. "Hey baby girl." Grayson said kissing her hand.

"Hi Gray. Clara and Frank. Stel." She smiled at everyone weakly.

"You're going to pull through this." Clara said standing at the foot of the bed.

"Yeah you got it kid." Frank added.

"I hope so, I want to marry Grayson." Her comment had everyone smiling. "Grayson, don't worry about lil ol me. I'll be alright."

"I know. You're strong but baby, I always worry because you're the only person who can make me as happy as you do. I need you, Raelynn Elizabeth."

"I love you, Gray Bae."

"I love you too, Rae Bae."

They exited the room and went back out to the waiting room where Veronica was upset her daughter didn't want her in there. Grayson sat down next to his mom while holding Stella. "She'll be alright, Gray." Lisa spoke taking his hand.

"I know."

"Raelynn?" Grayson jumped up from his slumber and walked over to the nurse with Clara, Frank, and Veronica. "The surgery was a success and we removed her appendix. We are unsure though whether or not an infection will appear. We are going to keep her here for a few days and just watch her. She has requested that Grayson be in her room for the night but her would prefer an adult in there. We would need her guardian's approval for him to go in."

"Frank you can go." Grayson said.

"No son, she requested you and you're the one she wants there. You're the one we want there. He's fine." Frank said.

"I'm her mother I should be in there." Veronica spoke up.

"You maybe be her mother but you never treated her like your daughter. She tried for so long to accept you but you couldn't accept her. Now as her current parental guardians because you left her Grayson will be in there with her. I'm sorry, Veronica." Clara said stepping up.

Veronica stood shocked that even her own sister was against her but she knew why. She knew she screwed up with Raelynn and she knew she was never going to be ab;e to make-up for it. "Call me when I can see my kid. Stella let's go."

"No mommy I wanna stay with Grayson." She protested clinging onto his leg.

"You can't."

"She can stay with us. We aren't leaving the hospital in case something happens. Go home Veronica, we'll call you." Clara said.

Veronica walked out without saying a word. "I'll text you guys updates." Grayson said before walking back to see his resting love. He sat in the chair beside the bed, grabbing her cold soft hand. He looked down at the ring her had bought her and smiled remembering when she said yes to spending the rest of her life with him.

"Grayson?" She questioned.

Gray picked his head up and saw her looking at him through tired eyes. "Hey Raelynn. How ya feeling?"

"I'm sore and tired."

"You will be for quite a little bit, baby." He said running his thumb along the skin of her hand. "But I'm here with you ever step of the way."

She gave him a weak, tired smile. Grayson returned the smile before she fell asleep. He took his phone out and took a picture of her sleeping went to his social media and posted it, writing a message that was awaiting Raelynn when she woke up.

The past few hours have been the most difficult hours of my entire life. From having a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner to ending up in the hospital. Raelynn was feeling off the past few days, throwing everything she ate up late in the night. She has also been having extreme amounts of pain in her lower abdomen. Not only was I terrified to see her like this but everyone was. My parents, her aunt and uncle, my brother and sister, Maddy, Tyler (who sadly was not there), her mother, and her brother and sister. We all were worried because we never see her in the state she was in. After an emergency surgery on her appendix after it had burst, she is now in the hospital recovering. They are currently watching for an infection to appear and if it doesn't then we are very lucky. This has shown me that anything can happen to anyone. Grayson turned his phone off after looking at the time which told him it was after midnight. He decided to get some shut eye and closed his eyes while holding her hand.
