Aiden
I admit it. Saying good morning when she doesn't see me isn't the best way to introduce myself, but in my defense I didn't know if she would be able to hear me. I know it would be a little creepy if I was in her place to have a someone who I knew was dead talking right in front of me. I just couldn't help myself! Now that i see her in person I had to say something. I need to get to know her. She turned around.
I expected her to scream. To do something. But she just stared at me and I stared back. Niether of us knew what to say. I feel stupid. Ever sense the crash all I've been thinking of seeing her for the first time. I never thought I would make it this far. Now standing here and not having anything to say I feel awkward. I try to think of something to say, but I'm saved when she says something first.
"Um, good morning to you to?" It's a question. I can tell I've made her nervous.
"I'm sorry." I say. "I should just leave. This is weird. I'm sorry I bothered you." And that was it. I was ready to leave. I know I would regret, but it's what she wanted. And I would do anything for someone I cared about.
"No! I mean, it's just not everyday someone shows up in my room. I was just a little startled. Please stay." she says and I can tell she means it.
"Ok. Sorry about that. I'm kind of new at this." I say as I relax and let my breath out. Yes I'm dead and don't have to breath, but it's a habit and reminds me of being alive.
"At what? Talking?" she says looking amused.
"To humans anyway. No one but you can see me. Well you and other souls." I say and I see the confusion spread across her face.
"Why me? And what other souls?" She says sounding as confused as she looked.
"Theirs a lot of us. All around." I don't say anything about them being stranded souls. On how they refuse to move on. Most stay and haunt the people that made their life miserable. It's nothing to be proud of if you are one.
"Oh. Well I've never seen any others. Yet again I live in the middle on nowhere." she comments rolling her eyes.
"That's good there not always the friendliest." I say relieved.
"Ok. I'll make a note of that. Are you hungry? Probably not because your dead, but seeing that you still breathe you might." She ask with a smile on her face knowing she's read right through me.
"Ok so your a wise guy. I see how it is." I smile back. "Ok I'll see what you got."
And with that we walk downstairs.
