Stranded Souls

Chapter 14

                                                                                     Molly

    I couldn't stop smiling no matter how hard I tried. I am so happy. I don't have to keep Aiden a secret anymore and he's even part of my team now! Nothing could be better then this.

     "Ok Aiden." Haley said looking back from the passenger seat. "Were going to have to get you your own sword if your going to come fight with us."

    "Ok." He said back not able to believe that he could fight with us.

    "You understand you have to be careful." Haley said. "This isn't a joke. If you touch that blade you will be sent away forever." The thought makes me shiver.

    "I understand." He said not able to stand the thought either.

    "Ok good." Haley says smiling now. "Welcome to the team." We all shout joyfully waking up Cecilia. I explain to her what happened and Aiden introduces himself.

    We arive back at the S.S.I in a hour. They decided that Aiden and I should go get a sword for him. We walk up to the door and it's locked. "We'll then. I guess that didn't last long." I say and start to turn around to go back to the truck when Aiden grabs my arm.

    "We are not giving up that easy." Aiden says as he pulls us to the door. We get close to it and he still doesn't stop.

    "Aiden!" I shout. "I can't do that! Only you can!" But he doesn't stop. I think about how much it will hurt and someone will probably hear and come to the door and spot us. I close my eyes so I can't see. After a few seconds I open them because I didn't feel the impact.

    I look around and see we're on the other side of the door. "How did you know I would go through if we were touching?" I ask running up to him because he's already halfway done the hallway.

    "I didn't." He replied as he kept walking.

    "So you would of just let me run into the door?" I ask still trying to catch up.

    "I had a feeling you would go through." Aiden says as he turns down a new hallway.

   "Do you know where we're going?" I ask now trying to speed up my pace to catch him.

    "Ya of course I do." He says turning another corner. Now we're facing the entrance of the weapon room. "Ok I'll look in there to see if there's anyone there. If not I will go in to look around and you can stand watch. If someone is coming, knock on the door and we'll leave."

    "Ok. Just make it fast." I reply shoving him towards the door and he goes through it.

    I stand there looking back and forth seeing if anyone is coming. I feel stupid and probably look like it to. I wish Aiden would just take the first one he saw, but I knew it wasn't that easy. It took me a hour to find the right one.

    Aiden comes out three minutes later. "Ok ready." I say as I start to pull him back down the hallway to the door because I get the feeling were being watched.

    About one hundred feet from the door a knife flies right past Aiden missing him by an inch. We stop dead in are tracks. I see an outline of someone on the other side of the hallway. The figure is moving closer.

    I see it put its arm back and I push Aiden to the ground as another knife flies through the air hitting where he just was. "Lets get out of here!" I scream to Aiden and he stands up and we run to the door.

    Aiden runs through the door, but it was too late for me. The attacker has advanced and is now next to me. The person grabs me by the arm and pulls me backwards. I see the knife in his hand and I reach for my sword.

    They bring the knife back to swing, but they don't get to because I knee the attacker in the gut and the grip on me loosens and I pull away. The attacker recovers immediately with the knife raised. I raise my sword too showing I'm not going down without a fight.

    The attacker lounges at me and i dodge out of the way. I try to make out the face, but I can't because there's a ski mask. The tallness and muscles tell me it's a guy though. He strikes again and this time I block the knife with my sword.

    I push it back and take a swipe at him but he ducks and I lose my balance. He swings his knife and nails my sword and sends it flying across the room. I race after it and reach down to pick it up when one of his knives hit the floor right in front of my hand.

    He reaches for another knife in his pouch and I take the opportunity to grab my sword. We're facing each other now. He has two knives in his hand. He throws one at me and it flies through the air in slow motion. I take my sword and knock it to the side.

    He throws a few more at me, but they all end the same way. He takes out another knife, but this one's different. Even from far away I can see a faint green substance on the blade. I know instantly it's poisonous. He throws it at me, but this time I just don't hit it away. I feel it hit my sword and as it does I sipn around keeping it on my sword and I throw it back at him.

    He was so shocked he didn't have time to duck or dodge it. It nailed him in the arm and he feel to the floor. I run over to him and point my sword at him. When he feel his mask came off so I can see his face now. He looks a year older then me with curly brown hair and brown eyes that looked full of pain and hatred which I knew was for me.

    I was thinking of what to do next, but I didn't think for long when I saw movement on the other side of the hallway. It was a girl and I thought she would be one of the people in charge coming to see what was going on.

    "Evan!" She shouted. I thought I heard that voice before. It was when I wasn't paying attention though. I was trying to connect it and I realized I had losted interest in Evan. We'll I think that's his name anyway. That's what the girl called him.

    I tried to turn back to him, but it was to late. He took that moment as his escape. I didn't even feel myself falling until I hit the floor. It took me a moment to realize he had tripped me. He stood up and I could see the pain the poison was causing him.

    "We'll finish this next time!" He says to me and he takes of running to the girl and they disappear around the corner. I stand up mad at myself for letting him get away. I walked to the door and open it and step into the burning sunlight that sting my eyes.

    I couldn't get the girl's voice out of my head. It bothered me that I can't remember it. What if Aiden was right? What if it was Haley's or Cecilia's? I reply it in my mind and now it sonds like them. I somehow convince myself it was my mind playing tricks on me and I head back out to the truck.
