Stranded Souls

Chapter 16

                                                                                          Molly

    I wake up to a noise in the middle of the night. It came from the kitchen section of the room. I got out of bed and walked to the noise. When I get in the kitchen I look around and I see the door open. I don't know how someone could of got in.

    I walk over to the door and see my sword laying there with a note on it. 'You will need this' it said. So someone broke in to get my sword and tell me I'll need it. I bend down and pick it up and a knife hits the doorpost. The same knife that almost hit Aiden yesterday.

    I know he's baiting me. He wants me to come fight. I know I should just close the door and lock it, but I know he will find a way in and I can't risk him getting my friends. So I take the sword and I race down the hallway after him.

    What I see at the end of the hallway isn't Evan. It's the girl that was showing me around the first day. The seventeen year old girl will red hair and green eyes. "Hello." She says with an evil grin on her face. I'm about to run to her when someone comes up behind me and puts a clothe to my mouth. I fight and kick to try to get away. But eventually I have to breathe and when I do I go unconscious.

    I wake up and I'm tied to a chair. I look for a window to try to see what time it is. I don't know how long I've been out. The room is pretty big and I don't see anyone in here. I know I'm probably being watched on camera.

    "Hello." I shout. "Is anyone here?"

    Then Evan and the red headed girl walks in. If I remember correctly her name is Kristen. "Hello." Evan says coldly. I just stare back with hatred. "Wow you shouldn't be so rude."

    "What do you want from me?" I ask cutting right to the chase.

    "I'd like to remind you we are the ones in control here." Kristen says. "You will listen to what we have to say and not interrupt." When I don't say anything Evan talks again.

    "Right now you are at the S.S.B. Stranded Soul Banishment. Unlike the S.S.I we do not send the souls back to the light. We keep them locked up forever. It's the price they pay for not moving on." Evan says with an evil grin on his face.

    "We were sent over there to be spies. We even got Haley to convince you to come." He looks at me with that evil smile again.

    "If you hurt my friends I swear..." I start, but Kristen cuts me off.

    "We haven't done anything to your friends!" She shouts. "Yet that is." She says with a smile just like Evan. "Just be a good little girl and do what your told and we won't bother them. Well, except for Aiden." I can't tell what bothers me more. The fact she called me a little girl of that she knows about Aiden.

    "I don't know an Aiden." I say.

    "Really because I think you do. He was in the car crash with you. Remember he died and followed you." Evan said enjoying himself. "He's part of your little soul hunting team."

    "Leave him out of this!" I shout. "He has nothing to do with this."

    "Actually he has a lot to do with this." Kristen says. "You are only half and he's the other. Without you two together you're worth nothing!"

    "What?" I ask confused. How am I worth anything to them in the first place.

    "I don't know how, but your soul with Aiden's somehow is." Evan says. "With the two of your souls we are able to create a machine that will bring every soul to us. And when someone dies they come right to us."

    "That's not fair!" I shout. "You aren't even giving them the choice to leave!!!"

    "That's life kid." Kristen says. I want to point out I'm fifteen and she's seventeen and that I'm only two years younger. I don't because it will just make her more mad. And when someone's mad and your tied to a chair that's never good.

    "What does that have to do with us?" I ask instead.

    "We don't know for sure. It has something to do with your love at first sight." Evan says. "How Aiden refused to move on to be with you." He makes a disgusted looking face.

    I try very hard not to roll my eyes at him. "So what are doing with me?" I ask again.

    "We need Aiden's and your soul to fuction this device." Kristen says.

    "And how are you going to do that?" I ask realizing they have to kill me to get it.

    "Well if you would of just died in the car crash like we planned we wouldn't have to do anything." Evan says.

    "You planned that?" I ask shocked.

    "Ya we planned you to be there at the same time." Kristen says with a smile like it was pure genius. "We were going to take your souls right away when you died, but when you didn't that ruined are plans so we just let you and Aiden go."

    "You'll never find Aiden!" I shout. "He's not stupid! He won't just hand himself over!

    "He will if we have you." Evan says cooly which makes me want to punch him.

    "Not if I'm dead!" I shout back.

    "That's why were not doing it yet." Kristen says.

    "If it was my choice I would do it now." Evan mumbled.

    "You won't get away with this!" I shout as they head towards the door.

    "We'll see about that." They say and they close the door behind them.

    I struggle against the ropes and finally get out. I walk over to the door and try to open it. Locked. I look around the room to try to find something to pick the lock with. After five minutes I finally find something.

    I unlock the door with a clothes hanger and step into a dark hallway that's let by candles on the wall casting shadows everywhere. I walk down the hallway and pass many rooms. I turn the corner and see people and quickly duck behind a pillar.

    I hear little bits of their conversations. They're heading out to leave a message to Aiden and the hunters that they have me and that Aiden needs to come or else. I wait for them to get farther away and then I follow them to the door.

    I wait a few minutes once the leave then I head out the door. There are a lot of guards so I sneak around the building there are more guards there too. I spot a helicopter landing on the roof so I go back inside and make my way to the roof.

    I wait until everyone gets off the roof then I jump into the helicopter. I see the key and start it up. The blade spins faster and faster then I feel myself start to lift in the air. I don't get far when I start to get pulled down. I look out the window and see a lot of guards. They have thrown ropes around the helicopter. So many that they pull me down.

    A few guards pull me out of the helicopter and grab my arms and take me downstairs. I thought they would put me back in the room I was in, but we pass it and go down to what I think is the basement.

    I get to the bottom of the stairs and they lead me down a few hallways and to a room. Outside Evan and Kristen are waiting for me. "There's someone here to see you." Evan says with a smile and I know he means Aiden.
