I am on my way to the office and I can not stop thinking about yesterday. I was kind of nervous about what kind of mood will he be in. Honestly, who cares about his mood swings as long as it does not affect my job right?
As I was waiting for the elevator my assistant, Liam came up to me. I smiled seeing him and exclaimed, "Hey! You are 15 minutes early today! I'm impressed."
"Thanks! I guess it is all your influence. Hey I heard about you fainting when I was on leave! What happened? Are you ok now? Why are you back so early? You should have taken the weekend off? I always told you that you should not overwork yourself! And-" I cut off his ranting.
"Jeez relax! Thanks for the concern but I am fine now that is why I am back to work. I am not overworking myself and where I am today is all because of that hardwork."
He sighed and said, "I was worried for you. You are my best friend and you believed in me when no one did." The concern was visible in his eyes I almost became emotional seeing a person showing so much concern for me. I have been away from my family for 6 years now though I visit them but that is once in a blue moon and even then I do not share my problems with them. I held his hand and said softly,
"I appreciate your concern Liam and I will always be there for you like you are there for me. I did not choose you as my assistant because you are my best friend but because I saw the potential in you to prove yourself." He hugged me and kept mumbling thanks. He broke the hug when we heard someone clearing their throat. Not again! Why does he have to interrupt my emotional moments? He was glaring at us. Like what the hell was his problem? I swear it just felt like a recap of yesterday's events. Just as he was about to say something we heard the elevator ding and I quickly walked inside to avoid the awkwardness.
He was in the elevator with us and just as we reached our floor I sighed in relief but he stopped walking and ordered with his back still facing us,
"Miss Jones in my office now!" I am so dead and I swear if he fires me I am gonna beat his ass up or sue him, he cannot fire me over some personal issues of his. My chain of thoughts was interrupted by Liam gesturing me to go.
I entered his office after knocking, "Miss Jones have a seat." He spoke calmly. I swear this guy is bipolar.
"Our company is going to host a gala next week and since I am going on a business trip tonight I want you to supervise all the preperations. Do whatever you want, hire the best planners in town but I want this to be perfect. I hope you know the consequences if you mess this thing up." He finished.
"I will give it my best shot however a week is less for the preparations to host the biggest gala in town. Also, we have to book the best party planners in advance. How is it all possible in a week?" I panicked.
"I do not care how you do it but I want everything perfect and also you are the head of this office after I leave so do not forget those responsibilities as well."
"But-" he cut me off and said,"You may leave now." With that he focused his attention back to his laptop. I walked out of his office thinking about how I will do it in a week. I do not even have an experience in organising such parties. I need to find a way to not screw this up.
