They ran through all of the cliché escape routes. The would tie all of the bed sheets togther but Marcus's security cameras would pick it up too easily.
They seemed to think that digging a tunnel would be smart. They actually tried to do this as well. The dungeons had spongy, damp soil and, once they found the shed, used a series of spades to dig a relatively good sized hole. It could work....
However the next day when they arrived back a pool of water had entered the hole. Leela thrust her spade into the hole that they had dug the day before. As she pulled it out of the pool of water the pool started growing rapidly.
Crestfallen Jean complained "There has to be a natural spring underneath her. Digging within a 1km radius would be pointless if this much water is spouting out. This spring must be huge!"
Plan C was probably the weirdest. Leela suggested that they drug Marcus and the steal one of his Ferrari's and simply drive out of the house. However at lunch Marcus began boasting about his new security system. Coming in and out the gate involved voice recognition, fingerprint scanners and retina security. Plan C wouldn't work either.
Plan D - Cause an electronic power out and then use plan C.
Problem - They couldn't find the power box.Plan E - Some type of air escape
Bigger problem - No one knew how to fly.Eventually after 4 weeks of these plans everyone was feeling utterly dejected. Even their success at finally finishing all their components for the rover was covered by the failures of the plans.
*********
*********They had finished the rover. Marcus would go to a press-conference in America to sell the rover. Basically the whole story of using the rover for South African armies was a massive lie. He wanted to make millions. He would make millions.
Predictably Chris was furious. They thought that they were working for the military. But they were wrong. They were being used to build a super-weapon that will make a their captor rich.
But he wasn't sure what fueled his anger. Was it the fact that Marcus tricked and exploited their skills. Or was it the fact that he didn't see right through Marcus's lying face?
But Chris saw the miniscule silver lining. Marcus would leave. This would be the best window of opportunity to escape.
But the TV cameras would still pick them up. What if the workers reported them? They would be instantly caught. They would have to convince the other workers to be on their side...
The next day the crew got together and discussed how they would convince the other workers. This was the simplest plan they came up with. They would just ask them not to tell Marcus and in return they could come with. Simple.
Maybe not. First of all they had to find them. The whole house seemed deserted. They wrote the message on a piece of paper and put it smack bang in front of the camera, telling them to meet in the kitchen.
That evening they walked into a kitchen filled with chatter. However as they walked in a deafening silence filled the room. Everyone sat and stared at them.
Leela broke the silence first. "Uhh... what's up everyone."
Yeah. That didn't help. Everyone stayed silent. Chris decided to take charge. "Okay everyone. So I gather that you got my message? "
He almost started to spill his whole plan when one of the workers spoke up. Well. Grunted and handed a piece of paper with typed words.
You are free to go. Yes. All of you. No more tricks. No more games. You are of no use to me anymore. Bye
Marcus
P.S. If you tell the cops or anyone else, you will regret it.
