Criminal Bedtime Story

Gavin tucked the child into bed.

"Can you read me a story?" (C/N) asked.

Gavin smiled. "Of course." he picked up one of the books from the bookcase and climbed into bed beside the small child, wrapping an arm around (her/him) and settling down.

"Wait!"

Both looked up to see Jimmy. He ran in and jumped on the bed the other side of (C/N). (C/N) laughed at him and settled down again, waiting for the story.

"It was a summer day.." Gavin began. "And there were four-"

Jimmy rolled his eyes. "Hey, (C/N). Wanna hear a real story?"

"If you give the kid nightmares, Casket, you can deal with it." Gavin muttered.

Jimmy gigged. "No no. There was once a time when there were two people. All they knew was the ways of the dark"

Gavin leaned back on the bed, ready to comfort (C/N) if Jimmy was being scary.

"And one day, they ran into a room. And found the prettiest, bravest kid. That kids name was (C/N)."

(C/N) smiled brightly. "That's my name!"

"Indeed so."

"Anyway. The found (him/her) in this dark cave. Full of scary and mean monsters." Jimmy crawled under the blanket. "And the two people got stuck in the cave. They began to worry and get scared."

(C/N) gasped. "Do they live?"

Jimmy remained silent.

"Casket?"

"They got caught by the monster."

"No!" (C/N) cried out.

"Oh yes. But there.. In the darkness.. Was hidden the brave and powerful (C/N)."

Jimmy suddenly jumped up, the duvet around his shoulders. (C/N) jumped but giggled a bit.

"Behold, I am the amazing tickle monster. Why should I spare these two humans, brave (C/N)?"

(C/N) looked up and Gavin, who nodded at (him/her).

"I.. I want you to.. To.. Free them.. Because.. I.. The are my friends."

"Your friends? Very well.. But in return I will take you instead."

(C/N) began screaming and laughing as Jimmy picked (him/her) up and began tickling.

(C/N) wriggled around, crying tears of laughter. 

"Ah aha! No! Dada! Help the tickle monster has me!" the small child laughed.

Gavin just watched, smiling at his family.

Jimmy suddenly pulled back and smiled. "After such a big fight, the brave (C/N) beat the monster. The two humans were released."

"Yes!!" (C/N) laughed.

"Yay. A happy ending." Gavin rolled his eyes.

(C/N) yawned and curled up as Jimmy put the blanket over (him/her).

"Night Dada. Night Daddy. I love you both."

Jimmy smiled and hugged the small child.

"I love you too."

Gavin kissed (C/N)s forehead. "Goodnight sweetheart. We love you too."

Before they switched the light off, Gavin looked back at the small, sleeping child. He smiled slightly. He was so glad that he had taken (him/her) in.
