I run. As fast as my legs can take me. I can still hear the screams. Still see the blood. I close my eyes to try to get rid of the memory, but it is just being replayed over and over again. Finally I run out of breath and collapse onto the ground. I just sit there for a while breathing heavily in between sobs. When I finally calm down I start to look around me. I'm in a large barren area with broken cars and buses surrounding it. I take a deep breath of the clean, crisp night air, and just feel the wind pull away my tears. I turn around to see Hawkins lab flashing in the distance. A part of me feels like I should go back and try and help the people trapped inside with those beasts, but another part of me is just so happy to be out. After being locked in that place for sixteen years maybe I had truly become the monster they told me I was. But now I finally had a chance to become someone else. Someone who I wanted to be. Someone more than just an experiment in a lab. Someone more than just the number four.
