Rose blinked multiple times at the laptop screen, suddenly becoming to bright for her eyes. She was obviously exhausted for, she hadn't slept in the past three days.. John leaned on the counter, he hadn't been getting enough sleep too; he was leaning on the counter, drooling slightly as he slept.

Rose mocked Donna's voice, "Oi! John!"

"Huh?!" He jumped up and wiped his mouth, looking around.

Rose waved her arm, "I think I'm gonna head back to my flat."

"You've got," He yawned,

"Her voice down."

"I only met her today. Still, she yells at the rude customers."

"I know, why are you gonna leave me? It's only....oh."

"You're not keeping much company either."

He shrugged, "Don't come in as early next time. I have to get at least four hours of sleep."

Rose rolled her eyes and packed up her laptop. She waved John a goodbye and began walking back to her flat. It was only two blocks away, but when you're tired it seemed like two miles. Rose finally arrived back at her flat, only to find a letter taped to her door. Obviously important, or it would've been in the mailbox. She opened it as she walked to her bedroom, tossing off her shoes on her way. About mid-way through the short hallway, her black side pack slide off her shoulder and she slid against the wall. Tears began to fill her eyes.

He's gone.

Her best friend.

Gone.

She took a shuddering breath, Captain Jack Harkness had gone missing in action. Her friend since she could remember. The closest thing to a brother. Sure, she had a stepbrother, but they didn't have a connection like Jack and Rose had. He was Pete's friend's son. They never really understood why they were forced to be friends. He was almost ten years older than her. But after a couple years he began to act like a older brother; cleaning her scratching, telling her to toughen up. They trusted each other more than anything. Now he was gone. But there was still a glimpse of hope. He was just missing; still there was always a bad side to things.

She stood shakily, trying to keep good thoughts.

Jack was just lost.

He was just taken.

They missed him when the took attendance or whatever.

There was still hope, and as long as there was hope. Rose could stay happy. Maybe, if she could keep positive. As she slipped into bed, she sobbed. Suddenly realizing that she couldn't do it. If he was gone she couldn't do it. Waiting for him to be announced alive would drive her insane. She sobbed into the pillow, she wasn't gonna be able to do it. Not at all not, at all. Rose turned toward the window, looking at the street through the small portal.

Hang in there Rosie. Jack's voice echoed through her head, I'll be back soon.
