Rose's writer block slowly dissipated as she continued to go to the coffee shop. She never really went in the day. For a couple reasons.
One, it was quiet. Besides John's random rambling or dropping of pans.
Two, she stayed up pretty late, so sleeping in was required.
Three, she knew John wouldn't bug her unless she wanted him to.
Four, the calmness of the place.
Five, John.
Okay, so maybe writing wasn't the only reason she went there. She got it done still, in the four weeks of going there, she had five chapters done, that was a big jump from before. Plus, John did help when it came to corrections. A English and science major in the room really did help with it. Just when she was unsure of herself, and correct wasn't working. The story was also meant for tweens and teens, so she would often ask if it sounded appropriate enough and understandable enough. His opinions did help, it's the only reason she's this far along really.
John knew her regular coffee by heart and had it ready by the time she walked in.
Rose sat back in her seat, skimming through the tv channels as she thought about John. She tried stopping herself, but couldn't. She shook her head.
No. I'm not getting into a relationship. Not now. She scolded herself.
She hadn't been in a real relationship for a while. Mickey was more of a pick-me-up from Jimmy Stone who ditched her for the chance of a lifetime. Ah, Jimmy Stone; the bad boy at school. Beer, sex, and drugs were the top things in his life. Rose was just a tag along to him, while she went heart shaped eyed and would do anything for the boy. Even if that meant dropping out of school. It all ended in heartbreak, but she managed to get out of debt by sleeping in her childhood bedroom until her first novel became published. Then she left her mom and stepdad for a flat in the middle of London. It was a okay life.
Rose sighed and threw the remote to the other side of the couch. Expecting someone to change the channel for her. It did get lonely. Rose stared blankly at the tv for a while, until deciding to go to the coffee shop early.
~*~*~*~*~
Donna Noble was making the day's special when the blonde haired and hazel eyed woman that John frequently spoke about walked in. She wore knee length sweatpants and a pink top. She looked around at the bustling environment, a smile hidden. Then she turned to Donna and her eyebrows furrowed. The black shoulder pack swung at her side as she walked up to the counter.
"Hello!" Donna greeted.
"Hi," Rose gently responded, disappointment attempted to be covered.
"You're Rose, I'm guessing?" Donna smiled.
Rose nodded, "How'd ya know?"
"John only babbles about you twenty-four seven."
"Really?" A deep blush covered Rose's cheeks.
"Totally." Donna pointed to the kitchen, "I can go get him if you wanna talk."
"No, I can wait. I just want a coffee with two sugars."
Donna nodded and smiled, Rose returned the gesture then, walked to her usual sitting place. Unzipping the bag and taking out the laptop. She stared blankly at the screen for a second as her mind whirled.
John talked about her!
She wanted to squeal and jump around. She tried to contain her excitement, but a wide grin spread across her face.
He talked about her.
That was enough to get any girl's hopes up.
