Quinta stared up at the ceiling, thinking to herself. "He's got to be exaggerating," she looked around the room, smiling as she stood up. "I'll show him he's wrong, I won't be hurt, besides, he's taught me how to use my magic, I can protect myself!" She reached into the gap between the couch cushions, pulling out the key she'd snuck out of Sans pocket while he was sitting with her. She went to her room, grabbing a small bag she often used to carry stuff around the house, grabbing a few snacks and some water to take with her. She slipped the bag over her shoulder, heading up the stairs to the door.
She took a deep breath, hoping she didn't lose her courage before even leaving. She shook her head, slipping the key into the keyhole of the door. She slowly turned it, feeling it unlock. She waited a second, making sure no one, especially Sans, had heard the door unlock.
After a few moments of silence, she slowly turned the knob, opening the door. She squinted her eyes, greeted by a bright light. The ground was filled with white snow, and she felt a cold breeze against her face. She went outside, closing and locking the door behind her. She pulled her hood over her head, both to keep hidden and to keep warm.
She slowly looked around, seeing more buildings to the left of the house, and a clear, snowy path to the right. She smiled, turning to the left and heading towards town, however keeping her head down. She stayed silent, and so did everything else. Sans had always talked about how busy Snowdin was, and she assumed this was it. However, it didn't seem nearly as busy as he'd made it out to be. Everything was silent, every building was closed up, Everything was completely silent as if no one was around. She shrugged it off, keeping her path into the Snowdin forest.
She walked for a while, not encountering anything. Everything was purely silent with nothing around. After a while of walking, she heard voices. She could recognize one of the voices as Sans. She quickly darted into the trees, hiding behind some of them while keeping an eye on the path. There was no way she wanted Sans to see her outside, he'd recognize her instantly.
After a while of waiting, a while of hearing the voices come closer, she saw them. Sans, and a taller monster. A skeleton like Sans, however much taller, wearing some sort of strange, almost playful armor with a red scarf. That had to be Papyrus, Sans had told her about a costume they made for him that he refused to take off. She could barely make out the words they were saying, but she could hear something about a human. Did Papyrus know about her? She shook her head, Sans had said no one but him and his father knew about her. But who else could they be talking about?
She waited for them to pass before going back onto the path, making her way to where Sans and Papyrus had just come from. She quietly looked around, still hearing nothing. She stopped at the edge of a bridge, looking beyond it and seeing nothing but woods and a wall beyond that. Feeling it wasn't worth continuing on, she turned around, heading back home.
She made it back to the house, looking to the path beyond that. She saw someone walking, although it didn't look like it could be Sans or Papyrus. She decided to go check it out, seeing as she hadn't seen anyone else. She followed the person quietly, seeing snow blurring ahead. She kept following until she saw a tall figure. She darted into the woods, hiding behind a tree as she did before, not wanting to get caught by what could possibly be Sans brother.
The snow cleared, and she saw Papyrus standing in front of whoever she'd been following. They looked human, like she did, with tanned skin and brown hair. Their face was expressionless, and they sported a purple and blue striped shirt. They had what looked to be a dagger in their hand. She watched them, barely able to make out what Papyrus was saying to them.
She watched as Papyrus kept talking while the human approached them. It all happened within a second. She watched in horror as the human sliced at Papyrus, leaving only his head. The rest of his body disintegrated into dust, even his armor. Papyrus kept talking with only his head. She could barely make it out, "I still believe in you, you can still be good." After a few seconds, Papyrus' head disintegrated into dust as well, leaving only his red scarf.
Quinta watched as the human walked on down the path, trotting right over Papyrus' dusty remains. She slowly started to come out from behind the tree, shaking at what she'd just seen. She saw someone else approaching, quickly hiding back behind the tree. She watched the figure approach, as it got closer she could make it out as Sans. He approached his brothers remains, kneeling beside them and taking the scarf, crying. She'd never seen Sans cry before, or really show much of any emotions.
She slowly approached, looking on at him, "Sans..?"
Sans looked over at her, "Quinta... You shouldn't be out here, how did you get out?" He said, clearly trying to hide that he'd been crying.
"Sans... I'm sorry... That was Papyrus, wasn't it?"
He slowly nodded, shaking as he put the scarf on, "I warned them. They're in for a bad time. Go back home."
She shook her head, watching him, "I'm not going back now. Clearly something is going on. I want to help."
