Bucky had managed to get me dressed up into a navy blue dress with a white belt at the waist. It was tight fitting at the top, and flowed out around the hips.

Bucky and Steve were walking either side of me along the dark streets of Brooklyn.

Bucky said he was taking us to something called 'World Exposition of Tomorrow.'

I hadn't really been listening in on the boys conversation, because Bucky told us that it was his last night before being shipped off to fight in the war.

"I don't see what the problem is. You're about to be the last eligible man in New York," Bucky told Steve, "You know, there's three and a half million women here," he smirked, "Including the pretty one standing right next to you right now."

I shoved Bucky a little, smiling from the teasing.

Steve sighed, "I'd settle for just one."

"Well good thing I took care of that."

Bucky waves at two girls huddled together.

"Hey Bucky!" one of the screeched in a shrill voice.

A look of worry passed over Steve's face before fixing his hair a little, "What'd you tell her about me?"

Bucky smirked, walking a little faster to get over to the girls, "Only the good stuff."

~~~
Bucky's date had been glaring at me from the moment I showed up at the expo with the boys.
I was also getting a lot of hungry looks from the different men that were around us. It made me a little uncomfortable to say the least.
The presentation finally begun as an announcer said, "Welcome to the Modern Marvels Pavilion and the World of Tomorrow. A greater world. A better world."
Bucky's date squealed again about the expo and I was growing annoyed with her.
A showgirl walked on stage introducing one Mr. Howard Stark.
Stark walks onto the stage and kisses the woman on the cheek.
"Ladies and gentlemen," he started, "what if I told you that in just a few short years, your automobile won't even have to touch the ground at all."
His eyes scanned across the crowd and stopped when he got to me. He smirked and sent me a wink, making the heat rise to my cheeks.
"With Stark robotic reversion technology, you'll be able to do just that."
The machine behind him started hovering off of the ground but a few seconds later, it fell back onto the stage.
It was really impressive for mortals...until it fell.
Mr Stark let out a nervous chuckle, dabbing his head with a small cloth.
"Well...I did say a few years didn't I?"
Everybody laughed, causing the man on the stage to smile greatly.
Bucky chuckled along with everyone, "Hey Steve, what do you say we treat Freya and these girls to a..." he drifted off, noticing Steve had disappeared.
I hadn't even notice him leave, I had been interested in Mr Stark's presentation about the...automobile? Whatever its purpose is.
Bucky noticed a recruitment centre a little bit away from the expo and nodded his head in that direction at me.
"Uh, girls... you mind staying here for a few minute? Freya and I need to go over there for a while. Alone."
Bucky's date, whatever her name was, was continuously getting angrier.
"Why? So you two can go have a quickie in a recruitment centre? No thanks, I'm done!" she yelled causing a scene and storming off, dragging her friend along with her.
Who did she think she was? She can't talk to me as if I am a woman who sleeps with everyone she meets.
Bucky placed his hand on my shoulder, "Don't mind her...she's just jealous that you're more beautiful than her."
"Thanks Buck," I said, pulling him over to the recruitment centre.
We found Steve on a platform looking into a photo of Army recuits.
"Come on," Bucky said startling Steve, "You're kind of missing the point of a double date. Let's take Freya dancing. Enjoy my last night."
Steve sighed.
"You go ahead. I'll catch up with you."
"You're really doing this again?" Bucky questioned.
I didn't really know my place in the conversation, so I decided to keep more to myself.
"Well, it's a fair. I'm gonna try my luck."
Bucky was getting a bit frustrated with Steve's antics. I don't understand why though. I mean Steve just wanted to fight and protect his people...but he isn't physically capable.
"As who? Steve from Ohio? They'll catch you. Or worse, they'll actually take you."
I nudged Bucky a little trying to get him to calm down.
"Look, I know you don't think I can do this-"
"This isn't a back alley, Steve. It's war!" Bucky cut off.
"I know it's a war. You don't have to tell me."
"Why are you so keen to fight? There are so many important jobs here"
Steve sighed again, "What am I gonna do? Collect scrap metal in my little red wagon? I'm not gonna sit in a factory Bucky. There are men laying down their lived. I've got no right to do any less than them. That's what you don't understand. This isn't about me."
"Right, cause you got nothing to prove."
I decided to cut in before they got into another argument, "Please stop hassling him Bucky. Just let him try what he wants."
He opened his mouth to argue with me, but closed his mouth the second he saw the look I was giving him.
"Don't do anything stupid until I get back," Bucky said walking away from us.
"How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you?"
Bucky walked back toward us pulling Steve into a hug, "You're a punk."
"Jerk. Be careful," Steve mumbled into his shoulder.
Bucky pulled me into a hug as well, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Keep him in line Freya," he said.
"Will do Serge," I said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"Don't win the war ill I get there!" Steve called out to Bucky.
Bucky saluted back to us and started to walk away.
This could be the last time I could ever see him. I was a bit sad, actually very sad.
"C'mon Stevie, let's get you looked at," I said pushing him towards one of the examination rooms.
"Wh-What?" he questioned with a look of surprise.
"Oh please. You didn't think I'd hold you back, did you? Who am I to stop you from following your dreams?"
