"Oh Peggy! You look amazing!" I sighed, slightly envious.

Peggy paused on the sidewalk, turning and grabbing my arms.

"Oh please Freya! You look outstanding!" she gushed twirling me around, "No one will be able to take their eyes off of you!"

Peggy had dressed me up to pretty much go to a bar and tell Steve a small message and had allowed me to borrow a dress of hers.

An emerald green dress that was tight at the waist but flowing around my legs, she said I had pulled it off much better than she ever had.

We continued walking and catching up and before we even entered the pub we could hear the voices of drunk men singing.

"After you," she smirked.

The singing and jeering instantly died down as Peggy and I entered the bar walking through the tables trying to find Steve.

I spot Steve and Bucky standing at the counter together having a laugh.

Steve freezes looking Peggy up and down, in her deep red dress.

"Captain," she greets.

"Agent Carter," he replied looking flustered, causing me to give a small chuckle.

"Ma'am"

"Howard has some equipment for you to try. Tomorrow morning?"

I really feel like I'm not even in this conversation. Steve and Peggy are just oogling each other leaving me and Bucky to awkwardly stand to the side.

"I see your top squad is prepping for duty..." she says glancing at the men drinking themselves away with a small sneer.

Bucky was sick of not getting any attention and decided to cut in to get some spotlight, "You don't like music?"

"I do actually," she said staring into Steve's eyes, "I might even, when this is all over, go dancing."

"Then what are we waiting for?"

"The right partner," Peggy replied, spitting out the same words Steve had said the first time he talked to her.

She smiled one last time before walking away and leaving me with the two men.

Bucky still looked shocked from the lack of attention, "I'm invisible! I'm...I'm turning into you. It's like some horrible dream!"

"Don't take it so hard...maybe she's got a friend?"

"Seriously Bucky you could get any woman you wanted!" I interjected trying to stop his nonsense.

It was at this point that Steve and Bucky took in my full appearance and both of their jaws dropped in sync.

"Close your mouths boys," I chuckled, "You don't want to be catching flies."

*a few days later*

I was numb.

Steve was numb.

Everything felt non-existent...just as I found happiness in this dreadful Midgard, something like this had to happen.

Bucky was gone, fell from a high speed train because of a Hydra thug.

I glared at the cup of steaming broth that had been sitting in front of me for the past half hour, flames started crawling up the sides of the bowl, flickering at the same rate as my heart was going.

~~~
I had fallen slightly ill and Peggy had insisted that I stay at the base rather than accompany Steve on his mission to stop the red skull.
A bedridden Goddess? It's pretty much unheard of, but you know, life goes on.
It was a rainy day, I had mostly recovered due to my fast healing process and I had been reading a strange Midgardian book that I had found mildly interesting.
Hours passed and the sky continuously got darker with every page of the book that I turned.
Out of nowhere, Howard shoved the door open, his face showing great sorrow and worry.
I slammed the book shut and shoved it onto the nightstand beside my bed.
"Howard! What's wrong?"
He sighed taking a deep breath, "Steve..." he stopped.
Steve? What about Steve, where is he?
"Howard? Howard calm down! What about Steve? Is he ok?"
"Steve...he's gone Freya."
It felt as if time stopped, who knows maybe it did. But all I felt in that moment was grief and anger.
My knees buckled underneath me and I was falling to the ground.
Why did everyone I care about have to leave me? Could life not let me have one person I love?
My father, Loki, Thor, all of Kehlgard, Bucky and now Steve.
Everything had been taken away from me from either my mother, Thanos or Hydra.
My mother has paid with her own life...Thanos will one day meet my wrath...but for now, Hydra will not see me coming until I've burned their last base to the ground.
~~~

"The last hydra base is located here," the Colonel said pointing to a location marked red on the map, "We leave in two days."

"Two days?" I screech, "What are we waiting for?"

In two days, hydra could be reborn in other places, if we stop them now, they will not come back as easily.

The Colonel stepped forwards, squaring up to me, "I would think about your attitude, little lady."

I opened my mouth to bite back but decided against it as I watched him walk back to in front of the map.

"And to answer your question," he glared, "We need time to prepare. To formulate a plan. We cannot go in with empty minds."

Everyone else cleared out of the room soon after, leaving Peggy and I alone.

"Come on Freya," she said placing a delicate hand on my shoulder, "You know that I want more than anything, to storm into that base and destroy every last piece of hydra information, but we have to respect the orders we were given."

I sighed, these people didn't care. They didn't care that Steve laid down his life to save us and I didn't even get to say goodbye.

"I know Peggy...But they will pay for what they've done."

"I do not doubt that."

Peggy gave me one last sad look, and left quietly, leaving me to my own thoughts.

2 days. He wants us to wait two days.

Does he have any idea what people are capable of in two days? I've lost the two people most important to me on Midgard, and he doesn't bat a single lash or even pretend to care.

I felt the now familiar warmth of fire flow through my body, increasing as my temperature rose.

Without warning, I pulled a dagger out of my waist holster and hurled it at the map, watching it land right on the location of the hydra base.

Without a second thought, I turned and walked from the room, trying to find a horse.
