Abused(On Hold)

Chapter 28

We stepped out into the beautiful sunshine holding hands. Cars whizzed by but none of them stopped, we walked and tried to get cars to stop. Finally after about an hour one car came to a stop in front of us. A women that looked to be about 70 got out of the car and came over to us.

"Are you guys lost", she asked in a southern accent.

" yes we are", John replied, "could you take us to the nearest town and we can go from there".

The lady nodded her head and we climbed into the backseat of her car. John squeezed my hand and gave me the hope that maybe we could get out of here. The ride to the town wasn't very long, but it wasn't short either, when we got there the lady took us to a gas station. John walked inside with Carly while I thanked the women and told her that we were very grateful. The women whose name is Roxy pulled me into a hug and said that there was no need to thank her.

I watched as she got into her car and drove away leaving me there by myself. I sat there in the cool breeze and blazing sunshine trying to find the strength in me to go inside where John and Carly was but I couldn't.

I heard footsteps behind me before I felt John grab my waist. I turned to face him and smiled, he smiled back and kissed me.

"Where are we", I whispered.

"Montana", he said.

My mouth dropped open that's a ways away from Illinois, but a thought occurred to me. We didn't have to go back to Illinois, we could go anywhere we wanted to because we were free. There was nothing tying us to Illinois or any other place for that matter.

John took my hand and we started walking I had him and Carly and that was all that mattered at the time. We walked for what seemed like hours until I spotted something. A sign for a bank was up ahead. I poked John and pointed towards the bank.

"Do you know if you have any money in the bank", I asked him.

He thought before nodding and then taking off down the street. Carly and I took off after him trying to catch up. When we got to the bank we were all out of breath. John said he didn't know how much money he had in there but he knew it was quite a bit. I was shocked to find out how much money he had in there. It turns out he has over 1 million dollars in his account. He took out 600,000 and we were on our way.

We passed a car dealer place and decided it would probably be best if we bought a car, that way we could leave Montana. After buying the car we got in and just started driving. It was scary to finally think that we were going to be free. That I no longer had to look over my shoulder every time that I did something.

We decided to head west! Maybe go live in a nice beach house by the pacific ocean, or maybe just travel for a bit. We honestly had no idea what the plan was we were just glad we were finally free.
