I've grown up around people who made my emotions seem inferior to theirs
They made me feel powerless
If I had something to say I sparked a controversy
I made everyone upset
I wasn't allowed to voice my opinion
My opinion wasn't significant
Now they wonder why it's so hard for me to express exactly what I'm feeling
Honestly, I'm afraid to feel what I'm feeling
Because I learned that there are consequences to having different emotions from others
If I disagree then I'm the ignorant one
To feel powerless is to feel trapped
