Mate.

The word floated around Taylor's head and entered every pore, sinking deep into her system until it disrupted every calm and peaceful being of her. She didn't want a mate, not at this age. She was only 17- balancing being an Alpha and being a student in a public school. That was hard enough for her. Now her mate shows up? She couldn't accept this.

Not yet.

The pack could sense their Alpha's discomfort and confusion. Her mind was a mess and she couldn't think straight at all.

The Beta and Delta share a look, uncertain as to how to approach her. They weren't sure what to expect from her.

She was completely out of it.

So all they could do was just stand and stare at her. Some expected her to attack the wolf and chase it off. Some expected her to phase human and talk to the wolf. But no one expected her to run away in a flash of silver and grey. It left all the wolves confused, even the intruder.

Intruder.

Austin felt his Beta side kick in, his mouth letting out a threatening snarl as the black wolf stared after the Alpha female. The rumbling sound jolted the intruder back to reality and he looked at the grey wolf in front of him.

The wolf could easily take on the grey wolf in front of him. Sure he was a Beta, but he was no match for the black wolf. The intruder wasn't even looking for a fight, but if this Beta was offering, he wouldn't back down. That would just be insulting.

Another malicious growl cut through the intruder's thoughts and he looked in the direction of the sound, seeing a pure white wolf with it's head low and lip curled over his fangs, 4 more wolves doing the exact same behind it. The black wolf mentally face palmed himself. He had forgotten about the pack.

The black wolf stays silent and lowers his head, not submissively, but knowingly, showing the pack that he knew he was in the wrong. He took slow steps back, his emotionless eyes glued to the Beta- who was now standing in front of the pack with his head held high. The rogue didn't care that he was basically giving up. This pack was the least of his worries. He had much more important things on his mind.

Like his mate.

With a small, respectful dip of his head, the intruder turns and disappears into the trees, not even bothering to watch his back because he knew the pack wouldn't follow him. They had their Alpha to find, after all.

The black wolf was determined to find her first. She was his.

All his.

The wolf was confused, though. Why had she ran? Sure, finding your mate while doing pack duties is a lot to handle at once, but running away from it? It upset the black wolf. A lot. His mate didn't get to run away from him, no matter who she is or what her rank is.

He needed to find her before her pack did.

The rogue wasn't cruel. He wasn't going to take her away or anything like that. Goddess no, thats just awful to take an Alpha from a pack. Completely illegal and completely devastating. But, he was going to find her before her pack. That was for certain.

Training his nose to find the dreamy scent of vanilla and honey, he slows his gallop down to a trot. The territory was very large, but her scent stood out amongst all other scents. It was like pure bliss. The rogue saw stars every time he smelled the sweet of vanilla. His heart swelled when he smelled the smooth underlying scent of honey.
