For a second, hazel eyes meet green eyes, and it's as though the world has stopped spinning.

This is my old Alpha. The Alpha who took me in and kept me safe while everyone else rejected me and bullied me. The Alpha who showed me that I can be anything I want, if I just apply myself. Taylor's thoughts and memories were like a hurricane- wrecking every sane thought she ever had and causing emotion tidal waves to crash around her.

The Alpha that cared.

Shock.

Shock was all Taylor could feel- pulsing through her veins and paralyzing her to the spot.

And that was putting it lightly.

She couldn't move as she was sucked into the depths of the brute Alpha's stare. She couldn't register the tears forming in her eyes from the memories. She almost couldn't even register when he walked up and pulled her into his strong, warm chest.

"I told you you could do and be anything." His voice was a gravely deep rasp, one that could and would send shivers down any spine. Taylor couldn't help it herself- she shivered as she wrapped her arms around him. This only made him hold her tighter.

"Chase, I-" Taylor tried to speak, but words failed her. So many emotions... confusion, happiness, sadness... she couldn't keep up. The tall boy man pulled away from her enough to look into her eyes once more.

"It's good to see you again." He speaks clearly, showing a hint of a grin as the female Alpha slowly collects herself.

"Y-You too! It's been so long." She finally splutters out. "What brings you here after all these silent years?"

Taylor couldn't lie- It was hurtful to not hear anything from Chase over the years. She thought he would at least try to keep in touch to make sure she was doing alright on her own. But one month turned into one year, which turned into two years, and by then she knew he wouldn't check in. And right as she's almost forgotten he existed-

"First, I want to apologize." Chase's eyes glaze over with sorrow, glancing down at his feet for a beat before looking back up at Taylor. "I wanted to talk to you. I wanted to check in and make sure you were safe and okay. But the pack was so on edge after you left... they were suspicious and tense around me. I had to keep up a good act. Plus, after almost a year I started hearing about your pack... How strong you were getting.... So, I knew you were okay." His voice had gotten softer near the end, and Taylor couldn't help but smile.

"That actually makes me feel a lot better. I always thought you had just completely rejected me." Her voice was lighthearted but held truth, and Chase picked up on it, pouting and pulling her into another hug.

"I could never. You're too special to me."

There is was again. That amazing, sweet gravelly voice. It almost lulled her to sleep.

"Okay... There must be a reason as to why you're here." Taylor finally gets the strength to completely pull away from the Alpha male, standing straight and looking at him curiously. Chase's face went from soft to stone-hard in a split second. It caught Taylor off guard.

"Yes. I am here on urgent matters." Even his voice changed- from soothing to deep and authoritative. It made Taylor's Alpha bristle with pride to be in another strong Alpha's presence.

"Urgent matters? Something we should listen in on?" The familiar voice of Taylor's Beta makes the two look back towards the door of the house. There, in the corridor, stood the entirety of Taylor's pack.
