you are a distraction

you are a distraction.
you always manage to creep into my mind.
you always know when i am thinking of you.
you are my distraction.

you lips creep into my head when i watch you speak.
your ocean eyes silently slither in my heart as you caress her body with them.
you words seep into my veins as you speak pretty little truths to her.
your fingers linger on my skin as you used them to make her feel goosebumps.

you are a distraction.
you know when i think of you.
you know when i wish i was her.
you are my distraction.

do my lips ever creep into your head when i am smiling just as much as i am frowning?
do my brown eyes ever deep into your souls as i look around the room to see you?
do my words ever haunt you, even when i do not speak a word?
do my fingers ever make you feel goosebumps when i use them to write this poem?

you are a distraction.
you do not think of me the way i think of you.
you do not look at me the same way you look at her.
you are my distraction.

i am not the one you long for.
i am not the one you think of when the sun rises,
i am not the one you think of when the moon shines brightest.

for i am the one you think of when you are bored.
nothing to do but wish i was her.
i'm sorry, my love.
i am not what you long for.

you are a distraction.
i am a reminder.
i am sorry i cannot be her.
but you will always be

my distraction.
