4 AM in the morning

It's almost half past 4 in the morning

But I am wide awake and working.

As the curtains flow

As the cool morning breeze greet me

I sit there silently.

The moon is still there somewhere in the sky,

And the sun is just starting to peep from the horizon,

I find myself searching for someone to talk

And let my emotions come out of the closet,

For once.

In this modern era,

Friends aren't too far away.

So I find another lonely soul wide awake

Just like me.

So I 'ping' her,

As we both let our thoughts unfold

The burden weighing us lifts a little.

We can't find a soul contented,

She tells me that I zone out often,

So I asked isn't it normal,

To that she replies.

Not just for us but for everyone

Burying our head deep into our thoughts is normal.

Time keeps on ticking and it's past 5 in the morning.

Slumber catches up to her.

But I am still fresh as if I just had a coffee.

Sleepless I am, don't know for how long,

I can hear the rooster cock-a-doodle-do

and the birds chirping somewhere far away.

Amidst the crowed city is my home

Buildings surrounding the windows,

I try to take a look outside

To see if the sun is ready to shine.

The sky is still dark,

But now with a hint of purple-orange hue.

Darkness surrounds our life often,

But there is always light awaiting.

A light so bright that it shines our souls.

No matter how much one inhume themselves

In the darkest hour of life.

They will rise when they see the light peep

Into their lives.
