Jack

I woke up to my alarm going off. I groaned. Today was the day. Today. I had to choose. Dance? Art? Singing? Music? I didn't know. Then I remembered. Mark had already seen me singing. I had to go with singing. Otherwise they'd all know. I sighed and looked through my closet. I pulled out a pair of black leggings and a black tanktop. I pulled on a loose dark green pull over on. I pulled on my boots and put on a black beanie. First day. It was gonna be agonizing. I made sure that I had all my stuff and walked downstairs. "Here. I made you your favourite breakfast sandwich." My mom handed me a plate and I sat down at the table. "Thanks mom." I said. "Hey. Everything's gonna be okay. Have you decided?" She asked. I sighed and nodded. "Singing. I met another student yesterday and he heard me singing." I said. "Okay. Well, you'd better head off soon. Otherwise you'll be late. I don't get a car until thursday." She said. I nodded and took annother couple bites of the sandwich. "Thanks mom. I'll see you this afternoon." I said. "Bye kiddo. See you soon." I waved and walked out the door. I walked down the sidewalk and lisented to my music. (Play song

I started singing with it and nodding my head to it. after about fifteen seconds, I started dancing. Not caring. I I didn't pay attention to anything. Not until I saw a familiar head of red hair a ways in front of me. Thankfully not watching me. I took out one ear bud and ran up to him. "Mark!" I called out. He turned looking quite surprised. "Oh, hey Jack!" He said. He stopped and waited for me. "You get up early too?" Mark asked. "What? I thought it was almost time for school to start." I was confused. "You went by the time on the website. That's twenty minutes early." He said. I felt stupid. "Oh." I said. "I mean, it's not a bad thing, that means I have someone to hang out with in the morning." He nudged me, making me giggle. I played with my shirt as we walked. "You look really good by the way." He said. I blushed. "O-Oh, um, s-so do you." I said. I wasn't lying. He wore black shoes, jeans and a black shirt with flannel. "Hey, since we've got a while before school starts, you wanna get some coffee?" He asked pointing at the starbucks. "Um, sure." I said. "Cool. Come on." He grabbed my hand and guided me to the store. I blushed even more and stared at our hands.

Mark ordered our drinks and paid, despite my protests. "I invited you." He said. "I was the one that was stupid and woke up early." I fired back. "What? That doesn't make you stupid." He said. "Ugh. Fine. You win." I said. "Victory dance!" he made up his own awkward dance moves and I had to resist joining in. I chuckled at him as we walked to the school with our coffee. We walked to the office and picked up my schedule. "Wow. The only thing different is I have dance and you sing." Mark said looking over my schedule. "Sweet!" I said. I looked over and I saw him smiling at me. "What?" I asked. "Nothing. You just look really cute when you're excited." Mark said.  I blushed and hid behind the sheet of paper, making him laugh. His laugh was pure honey. We walked into our first class and sat at our desks. I followed mark and got out a notebook and a pencil.

"McLoughlin?" The teacher called. "Here sir." I said. He motioned for me to come up. "Is it Jack or Sean?" He asked. I felt a pang as I heard the name. Sean. "I-it's Jack." I said. He nodded. I walked back to my desk, sadness taking me over. "You alright?" Mark asked. I nodded and put on a smile. "Yeah. I'm still a little jet lagged." Lies. He nodded. The teacher gave us our assignment and told us to pick partners. Mark turned to me but was interrupted. "Mark! Will you be my partner?" A girl with blonde hair and blue eyes said leaning on his desk. "Sorry Jess. I already have one." He said. She looked at me with disgust. I shrunk back in my seat a little bit. "Ew. Why would you be partners with that freak? He's ugly and dresses weird." She said. Teas welled up in my eyes. She smirked.  I was about to ask to be excused when Mark spoke up. "I want to be his partner because he's a nice person and he happens to look better in those clothes than you do, even with all that makeup." Mark fired back. I heard the teacher sniggering. She walked of, clearly frustrated. "You okay Jack?" He asked. I nodded and sniffed. "Yeah, I'll be fine." I said. Mark reached over and wiped the tears off my face. "Thanks Mark." I said. "Of course."

Mark and I stayed by each others side pretty much all day, which, I didn't mind. When we got to lunch he guided me to a table with a few other kids. "Hey mark, who's this?" A guy with blonde hair wiggled his eyebrows. "Like you can say anything Felix." He looked over at a kid with brown hair and, a white mask? "Shut the hell up Markle Sparkle." Felix shot back. What were all these nick-names? Mark laughed. "So, who is he anyway?" A guy with blue hair asked. "Guys this is Jack. Jack, this is Ethan, Felix, Cry, Bob, and Wade." He said. The all said hi and I waved at them. "So Jack, what are you?" Bob asked. "I'm a singer." I said. "Hm, I really thought you would've been a dancer like Mark, judging from the way you dress. Most dancers wear laid back clothing." He said. Maybe I am a dancer too.  I thought.

After lunch Mark and I went our different directions. Him to dance and me to the class I would be stuck in for the rest of high school. I sighed. Why couldn't I have danced that day instead? I asked myself as I walked into the class. Most singers were stuck up, believing that they were the best type of talent. I rolled my eyes when I saw some of them checking themselves out in the mirror as they sang. "Okay, class we have a new student." The teacher said. I walked up to her swiftly. "Um, can you say Jack instead of Sean?" I asked. She nodded. "Everyone this is Jack. He just moved here from Ireland. Jack, will you sing something for us?" She asked. I nodded and thought up a tune.

"White lips, pale face. Breathing in the snow flakes..."

When I was finished the class stared at me in shock. "Excellent Jack." The teacher said. I thanked her and took a seat among the students. Maybe being in here wouldn't be that bad. I looked out the window and could see the dance room. I could see Mark, dancing to hip-hop. He was the lead dancer. I closed my eyes and listened, drowning out the other students and the teacher for a moment.

Back to you by  Louis Tomlinson. That's what he was dancing to. "Okay, you guys can just sing for a while because, I honestly don't want to teach anything and you're all good singers. I pulled out my phone and started the song on there and started singing with it. As I watched him dance. He looked like he was having a lot of fun out there too. Much more fun that I was having in here.

I was pulled out of my trance by the sound of the bell ringing, signaling we had two classes left. I walked out of the class and ran to meet Mark. "Hey Jack!  You know, I can hear your voice from the classroom?" He asked. "No way." I said. "Yeah, really. You're voice is beautiful." He said. "So is your dancing. I could see you from the window." I said. "That sounded creepy, wow." I added. He laughed. We walked to our next classes together. "Hey Jack?" Mark whispered. "Yeah?" He scooted closer to me. "You wanna grab some food after school and I'll walk you home?" He asked. I nodded with a smile. I already made friends on my first day, and one of them was by far the hottest person ever. I don't want to risk losing him or the others. I just had to be careful from now on. I was already enough of a freak as it was. I sighed and tried my hardest to pay attention.

After I got home today, I could tell that I was gonna be in desperate need of some dancing. But it can wait until I've hung out with Mark. I looked over at him and smiled. I was so happy that we were friends. I hoped we'd stay that way. Or maybe become something more.
