Andrea Rus

I still can't fathom the fact that I missed the first day of school. The first day is 'the' most important day.

"Yo Andrea, are you even listening" my best friend Sandra snaps her fingers in front of my face.

"Huh-yeah I'm listening" I said still looking around the cafeteria, clearly not looking for a certain someone, just glad that even if I did miss the first day but miss the second? No no no. No.

No.

"Then what did I say? " She asked me. Damn, I think she's onto me.

"You asked whether hot dogs are sandwiches? " I tried.

"No I didn't and why would I ask that nonsensical question" She rolled her eyes.

"But are they? I mean hotdogs are just hotdogs right? " That question has me puzzled.

"A sausage between two pieces of a bun" She shrugged taking a bite of the hotdog she's eating right now.

"Ugh, let's change the topic. So-uh did you see Jake yesterday?" I asked, biting my lip.

"Yeah me and the rest of the student body witnessed him playing tongue hockey with Olivia, Satan's stupider version" She eyed my reaction. But I didn't have one, I mean yeah we broke up not even a month ago and he's already moved on, it's fine, I can do that too. Though the news still made me numb. How could he? Was I not worth even the wait to move on? Was I that worthless to him?

My heart ached as my eyes finally found him glued next to Olivia. Laughing. Having the time of his life. I hate him but I love him. Loved. I definitely don't love him anymore. No I wouldn't let myself love that scumbag. That piece of garbage. That piece of old gum under the cafeteria tables.

"Andrea, you shouldn't care about that lying, cheating jackass, he's not worth it, if only I could strangle him to his miserable death or I could feed him to piranhas piece by piece, face first because that fed his ego way too much or tie him up in an abandoned insane asylum or-"

"Ok ok ok I get it, I don't wanna hear anymore of your sadistic plans however pleasing they might sound" I smiled at Sandra no matter what I can always count on her to cheer me up and I'll always be there for her.

"You know what, I know what we need, call your mom and tell her you're staying at my place tonight, it's Friday and there's a party that we need to crash" Sandra smirked, I think tonight will be interesting,or a complete disaster but hey my life's already a disaster so I, have got nothing to lose.

I'm amazed at the speed time passed by, just last week I dreaded coming here, and now I'm done with the second day of school. I think I can handle the rest of the year smoothly.

"Hey man" I felt a hand tap on my shoulder, I turned around to see Jake  from class.

"What's up?"

"Bro I think it'd be great if you came to the party tonight, you'll be introduced into the circles and it's the best way to settle in plus you can meet some chicks" He winked and then laughed as if what he said was an Oscar winning joke, still he earned some swoons from the girls passing through the hallway.

I thought about what he said, a party, surely that doesn't fit into my plan to stay low, but a party does sound appealing, plus I could use some fun in my boring life.

I tell him to text me the address and made way towards the parking lot.

After coming home I did homework, I wasn't the nerdy student but I did want good scores to get into a good college.
