Chapter 9

Astrid's  POV———————————

After we got back from the group flight Hiccup had to go and get the medicine Gothi gave him for his arm after the fire. I really don't think the salty water from the sea helped to cure that. Speaking of the fire, Vikings have been working around the clock to rebuild the ancient building and it was starting to resemble the crown of the village it used to be.

Hiccup came back to the academy where we were waiting for him with ointment and a cloth. He took off his red tunic to treat his arm and I couldn't help but stare at him. It can't be seen through his tunic but he had very well defined abs. He had broader shoulders than she had imagined and his arms also had well defined arm muscles. All of us were just gawking at him with amazement our mouths hanging open. Who knew Hiccup looked like...that?

"Uhh guys?" Hiccup asked us. I think he was genuinely confused as to why we were staring at him.
"Hiccup you have muscles?" I asked him shocked.
"Me likey!!" Ruffnut said performing her best seductive face. I simply rolled my eyes at her and turned my attention back to Hiccup.
"Hiccup when did you get muscles?" Fishlegs asked.
"Guys I grew up in a forge, and Toothless isn't the easiest of dragons to ride either."
As he started to get out the cloth to tend to the wound on his arm I went over and sat beside him as I wrapped an arm around his middle.
"And the best part of all of this is... your all mine." I said hoping Ruffnut would get the hint. I think she did too.
"Hicc, do you want me to do the ointment?" I asked him with a smile. He sent me back a loving smile too.
"Thanks A, that would be great." He said whilst giving me the ointment. I positioned myself so I was sat at his side with easy access to his arm. I dipped the material in the liquid and placed it gently on his arm. He hissed and scrunched his eyes up in pain causing the rest of the gang to look over at us.

"Sorry."
"It's fine. Just stings a bit you know." He said quietly. I gave him a sad smile which he returned before turning back to his injured arm.

After wrapping it up in the white material he gave me I went round and sat in between his legs leaning back against his torso and closed my eyes taking in the comfort of knowing he was there for me, as he latched his arms around my middle and kissed my hair softly. Snotlout and Ruffnut were looking over at us with jealous and annoyed faces which only made me smile bigger. That was when Heather walked in. She smiled at the position we were sat in before catching the attention of us all.

"Guys I have the next dare." She said excitedly. This got the attention of us all we all sat in a circle with Heather on my left and Hiccup on my right. We kept our hands latched on each others the whole time. "It says....."

I dare Hiccup to say something he doesn't like about the whole gang and it has to be genuine.

Hiccup was furrowing his eyebrows trying to come up with something. He was always such a wonderful, kind person and never said anything bad about anyone. Except maybe Snotlout. Hiccup turned to his right where Fishlegs was sat.

"Okay well I guess... Fishlegs can sometimes go against my stupid revenge plans and changes my plans so that the aren't so.. what's the word...reckless. But he is still my best friend so I don't care." He started which made Fishlegs smile widely at the thought of being the best friend of the 'champion of dragons' and the next chief or Berk. Hiccup continued and turned to the twins.
"Well I guess you two can just be stupid and reckless. Pretty much the opposite of Fishlegs." He said which earned him smug faces from the twins. Then he turned to Snotlout.
"Well Snotlout can be really annoying, dim witted, irritating..." he turned to me. "Should I continue?" He asked. I gave him a smirk and let out a silent chuckle. "Well I think we get the idea." I said. Snotlout gave Hiccup a very annoyed and angry face. Then he turned to Heather.
"Well whenever Heather comes to stay she takes away some of the time I get to spend with Astrid so that is my answer." Me and both smiled at him knowingly. Then instead of continuing he just stopped.
"Wait a minute. What about Astrid?"
He turned to me and smiled.
"What am I meant to say? She's perfect." He said adorably. I blushed and elbowed him embarrassed. He just laughed and wrapped a arm around my waist as I leaned into his chest.

"What about the fact she punches you whenever you try to talk to her." Snotlout said and we all rolled our eyes at him.
"She only does that to you because you always flirt with her and say rude stuff about Hiccup." Heather covered for me
"To me she is perfect." Hiccup said with a smile.
"Hiccup it is part of the dare you do have to do it." Fishlegs reasoned and we all nodded at his whilst agreeing. Anyway I did want to know what he thought of me. His eyebrows furrowed again trying to come up with something which I just thought was adorable.
"Okay the truth is I don't like your surname.." he said. I was so upset. What was wrong with being a Hofferson? He received an array of But she is a Hofferson and what are you talking about? I just decided to ask him.
"What is wrong with my surname." I asked quietly and sadly. He lifted my chin so that I was looking directly into his emerald green eyes.

"Nothing. I just think Astrid Haddock suits you much better, don't you think?" He said with a smirk. A massive grin spread across my face and tackled him into a huge bear hug. I pulled away from his embrace and looked up at his face.
"Definitely." I said with a giggle. He smiled at me again and we looked back at the rest of the gang. Heather and Fishlegs were smiling at us. The twins were confused trying to figure out what he meant by Astrid Haddock and Snotlout was just glaring at us. We sat up properly and just decided to chat for a bit together before heading off to bed.

Hiccup walked me to my door with Heather. Heather went straight inside to give us some privacy.
"That was really sweet. What you said during your date about me being perfect." I said shyly whilst awkwardly playing with my bangs.
"Well it was the truth." He said with the cutest smile. He reached a hand to grab the hand that was playing with my hair and inter-locked our hands. The other began to play with my bangs.
"I will see you tomorrow right?" He asked and I smiled at him.
"Of course." He leant in and gave me quick peck on the lips. But I won't deny I wanted more.
"Okay I will see you tomorrow. I love you."
"Love you too."
And with that he turned and hopped on Toothless. He gave me a small wave which I returned before flying towards his house for the night.

All I could think about as I fell asleep was

Astrid Haddock and that made me smile.
