When i got back to the pack that night, i immediately called a meeting. Once everyone was gathered, i spoke rather quickly. I didn't delve into what it all had to do with me and how i have special powers because frankly, even i didnt fully believe it. I asked their opinion on the matter.
"I think it is a good idea to go, but i will not go without you. We stick together." I told them.
Murmurs spread around but everyone started nodding their heads eventually. A few people spoke up to say things like, if you trust them, then it will be safe, and more things along those lines, I then told them that i would let them know the plan before everyone goes to bed that night.
I looked over to Jake and Nate. "Can I speak to you two for a minute?"
They nodded and the three of us walked away from where everyone was still milling about.
" I want to know your opinions about this. At first I was unsure, but i trust this, it has something to do with my mom and dad, it was their best friend that i ran into today." Jake looked alarmed, he knew that i had never known my family, but Nate pressed his lips together and nodded.
" I think that it cant do any harm to go check it out as long as you think it is safe, its not like we have a thriving lifestlye here that we would be leaving behind." He spoke and I nodded before turning to hear Jakes agreement as well.
"I will tell the others that we will leave at 10 tomorrow morning?" I asked.
"Sounds good." Nate murmered as he turned and walked away.
I went to follow him but a hand on my arm stopped me.
"Lyd, about your par-"
"They are dead, and i do not wish to speak about it." I interupted Jake, already knowing what he was going to say. With that i walked away from him just wanting to escape the thought of my parents, my dad, protecting me and my mom, my mom, knowing she would die, but running ahead if it meant saving my life... I swallowed back my grief for the moment as i called everyone to meet again. I quickly told them we were leaving at 10, to pack their bags, and get a good nights rest.
As everyone went to gather their few belongings, i found the area i settled in, packed up the few extra clothes and picked up my black tank top, camo pants, and my combat boots, the clothes i had been wearing the day we had been kidnapped. I opted not to wear the denim shirt that i wore over the tank top, because the climate here is much warmer than... there. I slipped through the trees, taking care to go un-noticed, and walked to the stream i knew would be a few minutes away.
I washed the clothes on the rocks and wrung them out as best as i could with shaky hands before hanging them in the tree nearby. I then stepped into the stream and washed my face and armpits, hoping to atleast appear clean. I stepped out and quickly shifted into my wolf, shaking the extra droplets from my fur.
I ran alongside the stream before turning west and pushing my legs faster, i was grinning a wolfish grin, as i stretched my legs. I took the time to ponder everything that was said today. I believed the craziness Mr. Hamilton spoke of, for some twisted reason. Was it just because i wanted to feel like i trully belonged some place? I would find out tomorrow. I shook the thoughts from my head as i thundered forward. I looped back around and began smelling for my clothes. I found the tree eventually and decided, when my clothes were still damp, to lay down below the tree. I rested my chin on my paws and closed my eyes to a sleep that was filled with dreams of destiny.
My senstive ears pricked, as i opened my eyes and saw a squirrel scurrying around to collect acorns. I opened my mouth wide and let out a yawn, it was nice to be able to sleep on the forest floor again. I looked up and saw that it was close to dawn, well close enough anyway, no point in trying to go back to sleep now. I stood up before shifting back into my human form to pull on my now dry clothes.
