"Morning!" Shouted a very loud Velvet walking into my room.
It took me a moment to remember where i was when my eyes first flew open, but when i did i rolled back over and pulled the covers over my head.
"I don't think so missy, we have a lot of work ahead of us to get ready for today. Your coronation is in two hours!" With that i felt the covers get yanked off of me and i hissed when all the warm air was released.
"Where are Wynde and Rayne?" I asked, suddenly worried that they might have ventured off in the night and i was too tired to wake up.
"Relax, they woke up with everyone else, had breakfast down stairs with the others, and are now out lending a hand putting the decorations up in the The Pit." I looked at her questioningly. "Its a big fire pit, with a bunch of cool wooden benches around and in rows. Its used for any ceremonies we have, but usually its used when teenagers around here decide to have a bonfire." I nodded, before stretching out my legs and yawning.
"No time to waste, go have a shower, I already put my shampoo, conditioner, and razor in there, make sure you shave your legs and put on your cleanest underwear." Velvet hurried around, grabbing things and ushered her into the bathroom. I showered, and brushed my teeth before emerging from the steaming room, still rubbing the last drops of sleep from my eyes, but happy to finally have a real shower.
When i came out, i saw that, Fiona and another women who looked to be in her late 40's were also in the room. After a quick introduction, and learning that the lady's name was Patricia and she used to be good friends with my mom, Velvet gestured for me to sit down on a stool in front of a mirror in my room. Fiona set down a plate, with muffins, bacon, eggs, and toast on it, and i happily dug in while the girls chatted about my nice complexion.
After i had my breakfast, the girls set to work, saying how it was their job to get me ready. They put very little makeup on my face, a slight bit around my eyes, and lip gloss, and someone had curled my hair. I had my eyes closed the entire time. When they finally announced that i could open them, i looked into the mirror to see that they had done just the right amount of layering different shades around my eyes to make the blue pop. I smiled.
I noticed that Patricia had slipped into the depths of my closet, and after some rustling, she emerged holding a long garment bag. She handed it to Velvet who pushed me into the bathroom again, this time, following me in and helping me slip the dress on, before opening the door and standing me in front of the mirror again.
Dresses really weren't my thing. I rarely wore them. But this one was different. I thought i looked beautiful. It was a light blue colour, but at my waist it stared fading into a deep blue. It ran all the way to the floor and trailed a couple inches on the ground behind me. The dress was a strapless dress, but there was faded blue lace that started where the dress ended and ran down my arms. While i stood staring at myself, the tie was pulled from my hair, and pinned up at certain parts to give it some body. My feet were slipped into white flats, and i was given more lip gloss.
Patricia's tears welled up, and she told me how pretty i looked in my mothers old gown. She had it saved for when i was big enough to wear it. My throat tightened as i thought of my mother wearing this exact dress.
"Now now, no crying, you'll wreck your makeup, and look at the time! We have to hurry." Fiona flitted around packing things up before ushering the others out. I followed slowly behind them out the door and down the stairs, feeling the dress trail behind me. Before i walked out into the village, I stopped Fiona, Patricia, and Velvet and thanked them all for their help.
Then they lead me out the doors and down the stone path, we walked down a side road i hadn't noticed earlier and continued on, silently walking. We stopped walking were the ground sloped off. Fiona and Patricia, smiled at me and walked down to take their seats. Velvet patted my arm and smiled at me before telling me to wait here, before heading off to sit down to. I stepped closer to see over the edge, and saw that it was a hill down to a fireplace, with wooden benches in rows all the way down to the front. Every seat was occupied by people wearing nice clothes and talking amongst themselves. There were beautiful flowers everywhere and she saw a couple people standing at the front.
