5 years later.
I slam my locker shut and look into the faces of my fellow cheerleaders.
"Guys, it's the summer holidays! I'm not going to spend the next 2 months of it planning some huge birthday party for myself so that everyone can celebrate my birth when frankly, I don't really want to celebrate it myself!" They all look back at me shocked and appalled.
Lindsay is the first to speak up, "But ... but you're the head cheerleader. You're birthday is like as big as like , Christmas!" The rest of the girls cheer and woo their agreement.
"Well that's all well and good but you know that my birthday reminds me of my dads death." They all look towards the ground in sadness, "So i think it'll be a quiet night in with my mum!" they all look at me incredibly disappointed, and i know i'm going to regret the next words that come out of my mouth, I sigh and say "Well, maybe when she goes to visit my nan towards the end of the holidays, I'll throw a massive party and we can treat it as a back to school/Sophie's birthday party thing, ok?" They all brighten up at this suggestion and start talking about what to get me as a present and what to wear, so i take this as my cue to turn around quickly and head out of school.
Unfortunately, I only make it to the end of the corridor before I'm yanked into a classroom and a pair of lips are trailing up my neck to my face.
"Woah, Josh?! What is this?!" I say whilst giggling.
"Happy Birthday babe." He says whilst still smothering me with kisses.
I push his head back enough so that i can look at him and that he can see the unimpressed expression on my face.
"My birthday's not for another 2 months. Considering you asked me to be your girlfriend at my last birthday, I thought you'd remember that."
I push him back even further while he's still in shock and make my way out of the classroom.
"Hey babe? Babe wait, I was totally joking' babe?!" He runs to catch up with me and grabs the loops on my tight grey jeans to stop me in my tracks, "Babes, what's wrong? You've been so off with me lately?" His speech is slurring together and he reeks of vodka. "Let's go back to my place and have some fun before the big leaving party at Mike's." He spits so much during this sentence that i have to wipe my face twice before I reply.
"Josh, listen very closely to what I'm about to say because I really don't want to repeat this, or infact ever talk to you again. I've had enough of you not paying any attention to me and I'm pretty sure you're cheating on me with that french exchange girl in the year below us, so basically, I'm through with you. We're over and when you see me walk past you in the hallway at school or at the mall or anywhere for that matter, I want you to think 'God, what did I do to ever deserve that girl?' and then you'll realise, oh yeah I don't have her anymore because I was a jerk. And then maybe you'll have an epiphany about how you treat women. This is the only circumstance where you can ever talk to me again. To tell me that you've realised that you treat girls like crap and that you're going to change your ways. Any questions?" Josh looks heavily confused and just sways on the spot whilst staring at my face. "Ok great, catch you later."
I barge past him and finally make it to the big double doors at the front of the school. I open them and find my best friend Olivia (Olive for short) leaning on the big tree in the middle of the courtyard checking out the football team and being equally checked out by all of them. She's sucking on a bright red lollypop that's driving the guys mad! She's got legs that go on forever, her skin is incredibly pale and her hair lies down her back to the top of her bum in dark brown ringlets. She's got a figure to kill for and she knows it. For example, today she's accentuating it by wearing black fabric boots with a slight heel, a black denim skirt and a bright red, slightly see-through blouse.
